Chucky,

Let me know how the gear swap went, (vibration especially).. The IRS gear swap is a tricky thing in Cobra's and it's documented on the web quite a bit.. The 99's were infamous for vibration problems before performing a gear swap and had a tendancy to get worse once a swap was done. (FYI)

Below is a link by a guy named Joe Lynch on gear swapping an IRS and much more for a 99 cobra. The site discusses runout, proper indexing and everything he has experienced on the working on his own 99 cobra..

http://www.lx.net/jlynch/index.html

DEZ does great work from what I've seen, so hopefully it won't be an issue with a gear swap as long as he's well informed what can go wrong..

thanks dark cobra for the tips, I used to have vibration problems but I had MPE put an aluminum driveshaft in and now I have none. The only thing I have right now is alot of clunking from my rearend and it is leaking. Its time for a rebuild so I figure why not throw some gears in while Im at it. I have faith in Mike's shop, so well see Ill let you know after tuesday.
thanks

I just got my car back from dez today, and had 410s put in for 300 and I also had the KB aluminum differential bushings put in and they seem great! the guys at dez are awsome! my 99 dynoed at 281 hp which Im pretty happy about since I believe it did not have the fix on the intake. The car does vibrate at 70-80 even though I do have a ford racing aluminum driveshaft which I dont even know if it is the right size and model to be there. You can hear a very very faint hum from the rear end kinda like an offroading tire but not bad at all. Overall 410's kick ass and just soo much easier to drive around and alot more powerful now, even in 5th gear. In conclusion, get gears! and also make sure you go to DezRacing! I have been to just about everywhere else and they are they best place around because they are very well rounded and know alot about everything. MPEracing was ok but very expensive, and APEracing does good work too but are even more expensive and no one's as cool as mikedezracing.

hey are you guys saying that you are getting and 8.8 rear build for 300$ including the gear set?? when i are doing a 4.1 job lets say.. i ahve about that much in parts.. between the gear set. bearing sets, shims seals fluids and misc stuff..
as for you guys talkin about the irs cars like the cobra, and there vibration.. most of you have it right.. the majority of the prob it the poor drive shafts.. i usualy have my mustang guys get an alum shaft from mark williams.. they are the industy leader... thats what we use in our 8,and 7 sec Probes. can have any vibes goin that fast!!!!

$150 and you brought the gears? That is a great price! I've gotta hook up with these guys over the winter! I'm currently installing a new rack and outer tie rod ends, so my car is out of comission for a short bit, then I'm going to be butt kicking busy at work for quite a qhile. Perhaps I can get in there before the snow starts falling. BTW, did you need to make an appointment, and how long did it take?
