I recently purchased a '95 GT with more than a few aftermarket add ons. My question is this. How do I know for sure (without removing the rear end cover and counting the teeth) if the previous owner installed gears in the rear?

The car has 245/55/16 wheels/tires and turns 1900 RPM @ 60 MPH.

Any info is appreciated

If that is in overdrive then I would say you have 3.08 gears. If have a automatic trans then that is the stock gear. One sure fire way is to lift up the rear end off the ground...both tires. Tape a piece of small string to the driveshaft. Then, rotate one of the rear tires one full revolution. Go under the car and count how many times the string rotated around the driveshaft. Some common gears are 2.73s (stock 5sp gear), 3.08s(stock AODE gear), and 3.27s (stock Cobra gear). Then there is 3.73s and 4.10s which are popular gear ratios for non stock setups.

I also forgot to mention the car is wearing 16" wheels.

Stock enough.... Throw gears in that puppy.. you'll love it...

Just don't take it to a certain place in Attleboro, they are the ones that did a bad job with my install. PM me if you want to know who to avoid based on my bad experience.
