I have a 1993 mustang gt and is there anybody here that would know how to take off atleast a second in the quarter mile with just bolt ons. Right now im running 14.55 in the 1/4 with an AOD and a 3000 pound car. I have already advanced the timing, have a K&N air filter, MAC, o/r hpipe, shorties, AC delete, and udp. I would love to do that without gears because of the installation cost. My budget is about 1100 dollars.thanks

If the car is in sound running order and you are willing to do the install try nitrous. Do some research and get some info. Its not as bad as it seems. Watch how much you spray with your motor, hyper pistions wont stand up to alot of abuse. Think smart start slow and youll have some fun. It will cost less and get you closer that any 1 other mod.

Isnt much you can do with 1100 to knock a whole second off except gears or nitrous. Id get both, 1100 is plenty for the combo youll be in the 12s with 4.10s and a 125 shot.

My combo will yield you a 13.50 , but there is more than $1,100 in mods on mine. I'd go gears cobra intake, and nitrous.

...its an aod....GET A BIGGER TORQUE CONVERTER!! that alone can take a full second off...then you still have money for nitrous

Well, if you're worried about install costs then a converter will probably be the same as the gears would. How much are you gonna be charged?

If you can't get either of the above, I'd get a Cobra intake and see what happens. Take it one mod at a time. If you don't mind getting a set of used heads, I'd look at a junkyard for some GT40s. Then, if you're not happy with it, go with a TFS Stage 1 cam. It seems to be a great cam w/ good driveability and similar power to an E303.

Looked back and noticed you said bolt ons. Try a 65mm throttle body, C&L 76mm MAF or ProM 75mm. You could always do roller rockers too.

have your stock heads ported (probably like 400 bucks) and get a cobra or gt 40 upper and lower intake, (the cobra was 380 non polished) theres your 800 bucks, now you got 300 to either pay someone to help you w/ your installs, or to get a camshaft and install everything yourself, that owuld be your H/C/I combo (heads still stock though) and you'd be in mid 13's easily - but i always heard the right GEARS will just get you there, and you said you have 1100 bucks, well, thats plenty to buy the gears and have them installed w/ money left over for, umm, GAS!!!!!!

None of these suggestions are going to work without gears. If you want to go 13's with an AOD and only light mods- you will need gears. There's no way around it. 3.73's and a 75 shot of Nitrous would do the trick with ease. For $1100 you could get the NOS 75hp dry kit and gears installed. All done.
