So tomorrow I should be getting a hatch with a h/c/i 331 in it which just needs a head gasket, but don't know which one I should get....The mods are

Edelbrock alum heads
Cobra intake
F cam
24lb injectors
matching pro m meter
clutch less than 3 months old
brand new 3 core alum radiator
gears
control arms etc.

This is my through my friend so I know that is all it really does need and I have been in it before....and the thing movvveeddd :nice:

My options are.....
FPP-1011-2
FPP-1011-1
FEL-9333PT-1
FEL-8548PT-2
FPP-1152
FMS-M-6051-A302

I really don't plan on boosting it but if I do I don't wan't a gasket that would blow out at like 5 psi. My limit is no more than $40 each gasket since this is just going to be a project/beater stang. What material fire ring is better, what's the thickness of a stock hg? Which one should I get and why? Thanks :nice:

I got it narrowed down to these two....FPP-1011-2 and FEL-9333PT-1

I see the 1011-2 has a pre flattened copper wire ring, steel core laminate, and .039 thickness as opposed to the .047 of the other.....

The only thing holding me back in ordering is since it overheated I won't know if the heads warped until I got them off and check em out, if I have to get them cut then I would rather get the thicker .047 gasket to make up for the cut material? or would that much not even matter to the compression ratio? I forget the formula.

Why the 9333's?

Well I ended up deciding on the 9333 pt-1's....

As for the car my friend owned it, the radiator blew, overheated, and blew the driverside head gasket..and I mean bleww em hah. If you ran it it would squirt out coolant onto the header from the cylinder pressure. I got it so cheap because he needed something more reliable..and running...so he traded it for my friends truck and streetbike...nothing special though. My other friend decided he didnt want to put the time and money into it so I got it for $700, originally it was $500 but someone else offered 800 and I said 700 but I couldnt really argue that being expensive anyway. Here's some pics, some pics make it look clean but it has alot of defects up close, and the car was a mess when I got it as you can see, the glove box latch button is gone so it stays down the whole time, etc......I'm taking pics when I'm done with everything fixed and cleaned up real nice....all in all it was still well worth the trade....

Thanks for the pictures dude. Yeah i was about to say, i dont think thats a 331 with the stock pistons in there. Either way, you god a great deal on the car. Yoiu could fix the head gasket and turn around and sell it for at least 2k. Degrease that engine bay lol

Looks like a steal, remove that solar wing from the rear window, repaint the window molding black and it should look pretty good, at least at a glance.

If those seats are in nice condition, they aren't cheap either.

by the looks of that gasket i would check the block to see if its warped too... cause there was some serious heat going on to blow a gasket like that. also, you might not want to use a c-clamp to compress valve springs like that, thats a real good way to bend an intake or exhaust valve.

How is it going to bend a valve? It does the exact same thing as a professional clamp or air power spring compressor...It's pulling down on the retainer to remove the keepers, not putting any pressure on the valve stem. I've used it on maaany heads without problems.

And to 2000xp what do you mean they're not cheap? are these rare or something?
and I think I seen your saleen explorer out on 37 one night during the summer...either way looked good

They appear to be the seats out of an 85/86.
A set in mint or even good condtion is worth decent money if in fact it's them.
Don't get me wrong, they aren't worth thousands of bucks, but a good set is hard to find.
Thanks,
From time to time in the summer i'll go out towards seaside, although seems as i get older i head to pt pleasant more.

o nice, I didn't know. Although the passenger side is actually a driver side because the seat latch is on the left side of the seat, and the back recline doesnt "lock", so the kid put a dirtbike helmet behind the seat so it doesnt go back to far :rlaugh:.... its prob something simple but after a good detailing it looks pretty nice the carpet still nice and all.

What color should I paint the upper/lower and valve covers?? and maybe the heads? I got them jetwashed but they didnt come out as clean as I thought so I got to paint them or something. I'm thinking gloss black (and keep the red cobra letters), flat black or gloss red.
