Start modding the Trans and get a Stall and 4.10s , and you will soon forget its just an auto !

Have fun and good luck with your new New Edge :nice:!

thanks dude any suggestions on shift kits or specific tranny coolers and such ? i wanted something like 3:55s or 3:73s a little tamer to daily drive it with gas miliage and all

I run with a B&M trans cooler 7068 , very easy to install , B&M sells a few larger coolers but this one seems to work good !

As for Shift kits , dont wast your money , they are not good for your trans , when you learn more about the 4R70W trans , look into doing the J-Mod , its a factory shift kit mod from the 4R70Ws designer , who suggest doing this over Shift kits from Trans Go or B&M and it cost just about nothing to do , just drill 6 holes larger in the seperator plate and removing 1-2 and 2-3 shift springs!

Heres some info on the J-Mod , it tells you everything you need to know about doing this to the 99+ 4R70W , go to page two to read detailed instructions !

Good find and the auto can be fun too! I just have a programmer on mine and it made a HUGE difference. Car breaks them loose going into second and shifts right where I want it to. If I wanted it to be a track car then I would do the J-mod as well but now I may sell the car.
4.10s will get you up and going the best but if its primarily a street car then I would do 3.73's. Personally I like 3.55s the best but everyone on here with an auto GT says "don't fear the gear" :rlaugh:

Looking foreword to seeing the new beast :nice:

As others said, dont waste any money on bolt ons yet. Go straight for 4.10s (they are perfect, some guys even like 4.30s and I can imagine why) and get a handheld tuner to improve shifting and give you a bit of extra hp.

It makes a HUGE difference from stock. Much more than anything else I've done to my car.

I'd be pissed if I'd bought 3.73s!!!

see back when i was playing with a friends mark viii i heard about the jmod but had forgotten about it until now i will look into it asap, what do you guys reccomend for trans fluid ive heard only to use mercon v in it ?

Go with 4.10 gears, Xcal 3 tuner and J-mod. With just those mods your car will feel like a new animal. Heck I have had 3.73s for 2 years and now I have 4.10s on order. As others have said go strait to the 4.10s and don't look back.

i am by no means not mechanically inclined but i no that i am not ready to do the jmod myself even though it looks like childs play i am not familiar with transmission work yet enough to feel confident to do it so my question is are there any reputable shops in the nyc area or close maybe even by albany that are competent in doing the mod

Mercon V only. 4.10s all the way for an auto. I run about 3k rpm at 80mph and I get 25mpg on the highway!!!

Congrats on the new car.:nice:

thanks i feel like im 12 waiting for christmas to come its killing me having to wait till friday.. i registerd it today so im set, all i have to do is get on the plane friday and get down to fla

Come on dont wuss out , read all you can on the mod , get all the tools in line , put the stang on stands and dive in head first !

As for shops , look in Jeresy im sure you could find a good shop somewhere , The only problem with that is paying 8 bucks getting back into Staten Island:notnice:

I live on LI and the shop you want to bring your car to is RealSpeed Automotive in Bohemia, they specilize in Mustangs and are a full shop/dyno tuning facility. The owners name is Dan Carlson, he's a good guy and a straight shooter. They're also very careful and clean, they'll wrap your seats and steering wheel in plastic while they work on the car.

And no, I don't work there or own the place, just a good reputable shop my friends and I go to a lot for tuning and parts. :nice:
