Hey,
My AOD died on my this summer and I'm putting a rebuilt AOD in the car in a week or two. I wanted a t5 or 3550, but cash is limited.
I found a guy to put one in for $650 (Includes aod and labor)

Now I have a choice of getting some extra work done while it's out.
I could have a B/W Shift Kit put in (only does bw) for $125 including parts/labor
I could also have a aftermarket cooler put in, I believe it was like $200 or so.

Would you get the shift kit, or should I hold out for something better? And.. How much of a difference does one make in a car that puts 205hp 278tq to the wheels?

Btw, I don't have much money to spend... So if I won't notice a difference I'm not about to throw money into it. (unless it would prolong the life of the tranny by alot)

The shift kit will help your AOD shift a heck of a lot faster, and reduce heat buildup and wear on your AOD. I would get it. Also get the tranny cooler. The two go as a combination if you ask me. To be honest, the price on that tranny cooler sounds a little high to me. I was able to buy my B&M unit with everything I needed to install it for $55.

If you can't afford both, get the transmission cooler. Heat is the #1 killer of the AOD.

Thanks for the input...
Do you think I should bet the bw or get a better one like a transgo (like my dad has?)

I would go with the trans-go. I have heard nothing but good things about them from other stangers. That's what I plan on getting eventually. I have also heard good things about Baumann shift-kits as well.

As far as the B&M kit goes, I have heard that it is not the best engineered kit. A guy over on corral told me that his tranny sometimes sticks on the 1-2 shift. When this does, he bounces off the rev limiter until it shifts.

Does Transgo make different kits? ... or have different settings? I want the most performance and neck breaking shifts. My dad said his was only medium.
