Getting DRs before axles.

there is no "be-all, end-all" answer to that question. Logically, they should, but there are a million variables. 5 speed, AOD? How many miles? Torque Converter if AOD, What stall? 5 speed, what launch RPM, what kind of clutch (more for resistance to slipping than rear-end related)? What kind of front and rear suspension?
My buddy has a stock rear end w/ 4.10's, and went through a season and a half of mid 12's on MT ET Streets and high RPM launches w/ a 5 speed.
He's never broken the rear, but he has ripped seat blots out of th floorpan during launch. :)
Like I said, there are a million different variables, and no car will react the same.
They "should" hold up, but then agan, I won't be the one payin for the reapir bill if anything DOES happen :D

I can launch on DRs with 4.10s in my 7.5 in axle, 28 spline stockers, and live. With spray.

I have a 2800 converter, so it does not hit the tires real hard. 1.80-1.90 sixty foots consistently.

Been ok for 2 years.

T5 with 3.73s...

Launch as high as possible whilst keeping traction, say 4k.

I dont know what kinda clutch, i think stock.

Has 150k miles on the odo.

I just want to know sh1t wont start breaking because i intend to pull the wheels off the ground.

keep your 60 foots over 1.5 and your good to go.

launches at 3500-5 k are fine at your level.

i have yet to do axles on a car and i've had 6 stangs.

i used to launch my old coupe at 4k on nitrous out of the hole.....1.6x 60's and 12.50 et's and never had an axle issue

It will only last for so long. I've broken two stock axles on the driver's side. My car runs 12.50's with a t-5 and 4.30 gears. The 60's were in the 1.70 range. I launch at 4500 r.p.m. on E/T Streets. I finally went to a Detroit locker and 31 splines in the same housing with the same gears. Havent broke one in the last four years. Your on borrowed time. Just think if you break one at the other end at speed what will happen. I was lucky it happened at the line and I didn't move at all. Some times they will break early on and they will come out well into the run. That will be a scary ride.

I personally wouldn't worry about it. The rears on these cars can take some abuse...I have never worried about my rearend screwing up...literally. And as some can attest on here...I'm paranoid:)

My S/C Cobra had a stock rear end with 4.10 gears andNittos . 414RWHP 366RWTQ. I have passed down the drag strip about 50-60 times doing a burnout before about 15-20 runs. Plus I am rough on the street and horse around a lot. My axles were fine, the only thing that happen was I burned out the clutches in the posi unit. When I had that fixed I upgraded to 31's and an Explorer 31 spline posi carrier. You will be just fine with 28 splines, just get the posi unit bulit tough.
