I have a 2000 GT and want to get a better transmission to go with my 4.10 gears. Was thinking about a 2003-2004 Cobra 6-speed. Any ideas on a better transmission for me and about how much it costs. Thanks in advance.

T-56

Okay...if I was to get a T-56 Cobra transmission/install kit, would this work good with my 4.10 gears. Would I need to get custom gearing for this transmission. I don't take the car to the drag strip but like to race sometimes and do some highway driving.

I am also looking at going Cobra 6 speed. To help me out during open track events and I do a little auto-x. Look at D+D performance. You can get one with .62 6th to help a little on the freeway and the .80 5th will help you accelerate past 110-115 MPH alot better than our current 5th gear. Or you could get the Viper geared T56. Youll lose a bit off the line since 1st is 2.66, but .50 6th will help on those long highway cruises. And they have kits that will pretty much include everything you'll need to do the swap

problem with the 2.97 first gear is that trans can not handle as much tourqe as the 2.66 first gear trans. thats why the viper spec t-56 is a 2.66 one

I think install kits are around $2600 and I am not sure if that is with clutch. this tranny has a 10splin input shaft and hanldles 450lbs torque.

the other option is a modified viper t-56. It will have a .5 6th gear. It has a 26 spline input shaft and handles 550lbs. I is $3600 though. it only comes with the 2.66 first.

if you want a true overdirve option the .5 6th is great. if you only want better gearing and don't care about the overdive then get the viper model as it is cheaper and you don't need the extra torque capacity.

From D&D the Viper tranny kit with .50 6th includes clutch, the "regular" T56 kit with 2.97 1st and .62 6th does not include clutch.
