GETTING RID OF OLD WINDOW TINT

I got some spray stuff from autozone and some razor blades but it is taking forever to get it off anyone have any ideas

I used that once, it took like an hour for the driver side window. But what I used to do was spray that autozone spray-or windex, I think somthing with amonia. Spray that all on the window-(you can cut little lines in the tint with a razor blade to speed things up) then tape a dark plastic back on the inside of the window, park the car in the sun and 30-45 minutes later the tint should start bubbling on the inside of the window. take the plactic back off and it should be alot easyer to remove that old tint with the glue. hope that helps, sorry about my spelling. sleep sleep lol

Glass cleaner and a razor blade. It's a tedious job, but it does come off. Even more so once you get it started. Getting the film off is the easy part, it's getting all the residual glue that's a PITA.

My dad and brother found that on my sisters car the only thing that worked was laquer thinner. Pour into a rag, wipe it on in one direction and follow (easier with two people) immediately with another dry rag. If you go back and forth you will only smear the glue. I guess this worked well enough, better than what the guy at the tint place could do to get it off.

Just about all the pros use ammonia and a razor blade to remove tint. Ammonia is especially handy on the back window because of the rear defroster lines. It does the best job at eating away at the glue without leaving any kind of residue.

Go to Wal-Mart and buy a can of Oops adhesive remover. Pour it on a rag and it will take the glue off in an instant the actual films should just peel off and if it doesn't, the Oops with get it too.

WD-40 and NEW razor blades.

Also, don't be afraid to use more than 1 razor blade. They dull out quick so always use a fresh one.

i would call a tint shop and ask how much it is to remove it. i brought mine in to a friend who owns a tint shop and they did it in about 15 minutes for free (cause i know him). i wasnt there to watch, but it was a piece of cake for the experts. may save a lot of time and aggrevation and not be too expensive!

I took mine to a tine shop and they spray soapy water and use this black trash bags. They spray the window and then place the bag on the tint. Leave the car in the sun for 15 minutes and the tint just peels off. This even worked on the back window however my defogger has not worked since I bought the car used in 95. I aksed him if this is the way they do it for working defoggers and said yeppers and that the lines do not stick if you give enough time for the glue to soften. Then he used ammonia to remove the remaining glue after the tint was removed.

I used denatured alcohol and a rag. It is pretty easy on stuff so you don't have to worry about melting plastic and such.

I use a heat gun on the lowest setting (same as putting the garbage bag in the sun trick but I cant wait that long) and use some denatured alcohol or windex with amonia and lots of it and then a razor blade to start the removal and the stuff peels right off. Have to be careful with heat gun not to get glass too hot because it will break it or burn you in process (speak from experience of both) allt he ways mentioned work good. it depends on how old the tint is and what kid of tint on how easy the glue residue is going to come off. My last car came off adn didnt leave anythign on glass took about 15 minutes...but I have done lots of windows now.

I had to take the tint off the sides of my 04' cobra and I used Goo-Gone and plenty of new razor blades...did the job but took FOREVER

the easiest way is to use a hairdryer and it will come off like cake. + ammonia
