I have been thinking about getting rid of that stuff that is on the ynderside of the hood. I have seen a few with mirrors on it but does anyone have any ideas or pics of other ways to make that area look good. Also is it a pain to take off? If anyone has any info or pics I would apprciate it.
Thanks alot.

One thing to keep in mind...
It will make the car louder, and I heard it is good for insulating the engine bay..

dont have one on my car...cant say that the paint is messed up. im sure it would if the engine got hot enough though. the old hood liners were basically there for insulation and noise control, but the new ones are there incase of an engine fire. a buddy that i worked with used to work at ford and he said that the new ones will melt off and put out the fire.....dont know if its true...but it sounds like a damn good idea

Thanks for all the input.
My car is a 89 so I am sure it is just worn out looking. Maybe I can just put on a new one? I was thinking about the heat from the engine messing up the paint too. I will see if anyone else has any ideas or info.
Has anyone actually done this? and if so, how does it look? what about the paint on the hood?
Thanks alot.

I dont have one on my stang, took it off...Kept cleaning my engine bay, but to my dismay the ****ty cover kept dirtying it. I did a post a few months back about this. You should search up my name...it wont hurt the paint, and itll be 'Weight Reduction' too! Lol, anyhoo...made my stang look nicer IMO

Took mine out 2 years ago (easy to do, took less than 5 minutes. Just get a pair of pliers & pull out the round plugs holding it on there) & have never had a problem with it damaging my paint. I've seen the stainless steel under the hood (looks like mirrors but won't break like glass) but I would like to do something different. So I'd like to see some ideas in here too

probably not what youd want to do, but there is a corvette around here with a spiderman theme and on the underside of his hood has a painted picture of spiderman.
