getting the exhaust off the rubber hangers

What is the best/easiest way to get the mufflers and tailpipe off their rubber hangers i was wondering cuz im changing mine i would like to know the easiest way. the only thing i can think of is to use WD-40

no wd-40 is more for metal based........dawn,joy works great even KY......astroglide..............put some on the end of the post that is gonna go through the rubber hanger and it will lube it up on the way out and should slide out easy........just do the reverse for the install............if you dont have enough room to get em out of the rubber hangers just zip the bolt off real quick and swap the hangers in the open...

I thought that "post" was made of metal.

You can probably spit on the dang thing and pull it off.

The rubber hangers can be pretty hard to get off...I just used some of your basic dish soap (Joy)...and put it on the ends (the raised part) and don't be afraid to glob it on...and it pulls off nicely... ...and do the same thing putting them on...and just wipe the excess away when your done...

I think WD-40 contains something that breaksdown petroleum products (rubber and plastic)???

Dish soap is the way to go.

I'd hate to explain to my buddies why I had a container of KY jelley in my toolbox! For that matter I'd hate to explain to my girlfriend why I have WD-40 in my bathroom.

I used the wd40 and a pry bar. Commin off is a pain....goin back on is easy.

anything you cant figure out, you can fix it with krazy glue, duct tape, wd-40, or a hammer. jk

i heard wd-40 worked too.

in a pinch, snot works. for me, i use silicone spray. if it is good enough for rubber (tires, etc), it is good enough for those old hangers.

sure you can........................you try spit and i will try joy and see who get's it off faster. and like stated below wd-40 is a harsh chemical for rubber. but do what you want your the man????

thanks for the replys I actually just cut the knob off the end of the metal hanger and it pulled right out and it really was much easier to put the new stuff on than taking to old stuff off
