global west adjustable strut rods

I just started to install a pair of gw adj. strut rods and I think they may be too long.
I made a rough measurement from 2 points and the new rods are going to move the lower arm back by 1/2 inch when adjusted to minimum length. I would have expected them to have the ability to adjust for both positive and negative changes. The car is 65 v8 and the overall length is 201/8" on the new rods bracket to end of rod.I am wondering if maybe I got 67 or 68 on rods. Anyone else run across this .The part # is correct. Idon't know how much 1/2 will change caster any help? Thanks

A data point for you -- I installed the GW strut rods on my '65, and they wound up at about mid-stroke when positioned the same as the original fixed strut rods. It sounds like you don't have the right part.

This is a pic of the 65/66 strut rods

the 67 have a welded steering stop at the end and the 68up are not straight

These where sent to me by a vender by mistake when I ordered the ones for my 67. The ones for the 67 are much longer than the 65/66 and ALL the length is in the black end of the picture. The bolt holes are farther apart and there was a large welded steering stop on the end “right side of picture”. The 68 and above are not straight and have a right and left side only design.

yeah, there is no way a 68-up unit will physically fit into a 65-66 or even a 67 unless you change the LCA's on the 67.

it's possible that you a wierd factory defect that has had the longer rod from a later model welded to the early model mounting bracket.

Gw strut rods

I talked to tech at Global West and they are correct length. It appears that my car is a bit off as the wheels are way forward in fender openings.I have 1 1/4 " clearance in front of tire and 3+ in back.what I have done is drill lca end of rods 3/4" closer to front and this will give me 1/4" of adjustment in that direction. I will see what my alignment man has to say in am. If it has problems I start checking frame but I see no evidence of any major work damage on car drives straight? thanks for all the replies.
