Go with employee pricing or wait?

I am about to pick up a 2009 Ford Mustang V6 Premium. I am wondering if it is smart to take advantage of the employee pricing deal going on or to wait till January 5th when the deals change.

I am wondering now that the 2010's have been announced if they might be offering something extra to get the old models off the lot. Another advantage I have is my company does take part of the X-Plan.

I am going with the 2009 because I cant wait till the 2010 models come out. My current vehicle is on its last leg and I refuse to put another dime into it to make it last until then.

The specs and price I got on it are as follows:

2009 V6 Premium Mustang
Black int/ext
Automatic Transmission
Safety & Security Package
Comfort Package with heated leather seats

Total out the door price with all tax/fees I got was $23,600

Any thoughts would be great.

What's the retail on the car? With incentives and employee pricing (which is much better than X plan) I would have thought the total would be less. How much of this is tax? I have seen GTs for this kind of money, 2008s though.

You should be paying much much much less for a v6 premium mustang.... i paid 26,000 for my v8 2008 mustang BEFORE any of those deals were up.

I don't know what taxes and fees run in your area, but that sounds in the right ballpark. The current employee pricing is $23,382 for a 2009 optioned as you mentioned. In my area, there is a $500 rebate. Taxes in my area (only 3% sales tax on cars) would bring it to about $30 less than the price you paid, and then I'd have dealer fees on top of that.

I got my GT for just under 25k and I have many of the same options. That price seems somewhat high to me.

The thing to remember is these options add up quick. Automatic Transmission is an extra $1000, Comfort Package with heated seats is another $1000 and the safety/security package is another $830.

If anyone has any suggestions on how I can get a better price let me know.

Why are you buying a V6 with an auto tranny? Are you going for gas mileage, if so don't get the auto tranny. FYI, I believe the V8 gets better gas mileage than the V6, just guessing.
I have an 06 GT manual tranny and it get 18 MPG consistently around town and 29 highway.

As for waiting or buy now, I'd wait until the first of the year. Ford is going to get even more desperate to sell cars in 2009. I work for a large auto Auction and I can tell you new car sells are off, way off. Used car sells are picking up, people are not buying new cars even with all the incentives.

It's up to you, hope you don't mind my questioning you about your selection of the V6 Auto tranny.

I can tell you that I have owned Mustangs with manuals and automatics. The manuals were during my younger days. I now have a GT with an automatic. I am 56 with arthritis and some circulation problems in my legs. A manual just isn't realistic anymore. I would prefer a manual but I cannot drive one on a regular basis.
There are many genuine reasons why one might buy an automatic. It is also my experience that the GT gets almost as good a gas mileage as the V6.

Main reason I want an automatic is for a reomote car starter. I HATE the cold and first thing on my list to do is add one.

If you want a manual transmission get heated seats. They work incredibly well when it gets cold out. They take only a minute or two to get warmed up.

I assume you are a dealer or in sales of some sort. So let me ask you from an insiders prospective I have takled to all these dealers and they all are basicly telling me this is the lowest they can go. Other than price what types of things would the dealership be willing to throw in to get my business? I was thinking of asking for something like a remote starter thrown in since they arnt too much money.

Any thoughts would be helpful.
