So I got a hunnert bucks burning a hole in my pocket. I buy these FRRP billet spark plug wire looms like you see here



and it doesn't fit. They have this "L" shaped piece that bolts to the loom with a tab that mounts to one of your valve cover bolts. You can see the two mounting tabs protruding from the top. The one in the picture shows the left tab about 1/2 to 1 inch from the left side. On mine, it is no fewer than 4 inches to the right of that, no where near where it should be and a few inches from any of the usable valve cover bolt holes. A call to Ford Racing to resolve the problem was most eye opening. I explained my problem and basically was told

"Thank you for calling Ford Racing. Now go F yourself and only call back with questions that relate to parts that cost a lot of money."

I bought two packs of Ford valve cover studs with matching nuts, the head of each nut engraved with the Ford logo, to go with my new Ford Motorsport valve covers.

Minor complaint but one of the nuts was missing the engraving, not made in the USA. Worse I had a difficult job installing the baffles inside the valve covers. Either the self tapping screws were of poor quality or the pilot holes were too small, and very raggy.

Not impressed. If I want crap I'll buy cheap stuff. If I'm spending good dollars then I expect quality. Certainly from my experience buying Ford Racing is not a guarantee of quality. Sorry Ford.

Buy from Summit...always. They carry the Ford Racing stuff, and will treat you some amount of dignity when you call with a problem.

However I sure hope you're calling F.R. back and asking for a supervisor, and giving them some lawyer hell.

I want those same looms but now I don't know! They are supposed to fit small and big blocks aren't they? Is there no adjustment on the tabs?

I have the ones made by Billet Specialties and the tabs are repositionable on them so they work with a lot of different engines. Worked on my 289. They make quite a few styles and I don't think they were as high as $100.

That's an option but I thought it would be cool to have the ones with "Mustang" on them. Maybe Jerry will post and let us know if they are adjustable; it could've been overlooked.

I thought it would be cool to have the "mustang" ones too.

They are adjustable. the tab slides left and right. But if you drill the holes in the wrong place on the piece of billet alum, it doesn't matter how adjustable they are if the position of maximum adjustment to the left or right is still 2.5 inches away from the nearest usable hole.

I did buy these from summit, like most everything, and Summit will exchange them gladly but I already spent a ton of money in overseas shipping. I would have to pay to ship the looms back, a cost I cannot recoup. I will just have to drill a correct hole myself, which is no huge deal but if you purport to sell a premium piece of dress up equipment that fits any ford engine block, damnit, it should do what you say it does. To send it back will involve me spending at least another $50 that I cannot recover. I cannot find a longer bracket so I have to go out and spend on a counter-sinking bit I will probably never use again. What irks me is the attitude of the guy I talked to at Ford Racing.

I just got my Ford Racing valves covers yesterday. Baffles went in fine. I got the Billet air cleaner also... that thing is sweet. Both from Summit. Fast shipping... good service. I like the looms.... but not for that kind of cash.

I called summit. I bought a new set of looms identical to the defective ones I got. I hope that it is not a bad batch. THey agreed to pay the shipping to me in Euroland free. Normally, I would expect to pay over $50 for such an order from them. I will send the other ones back with a californian who is here visiting her daughter and she will send them back to Summit priority mail. Summit will then credit my card for what I have already paid. It costs me an extra couple of bucks in shipping but saves me from having to buy a new drill bit and countersink and risking screwing up drilling new holes. Summit comes through again whereas Ford just sucked rooster.

Ford does suck rooster. Screw those guys, I am gonna go buy a Scion...no wait...what?
