Going price for a 93 cobra (little story)

Well I have a chance to buy a 93 cobra with front end damage form a deer, but I'm not sure what it is worth. I'll probably have to replace both fenders the hood and the front nose. The thing that pisses me off about the car is, this guy has stored the car without the hood on it, or anything to stop the water from getting in the engine compartment, he just has a cheap POS cover on it that doesn't stop anything from getting in there, not to mention the duct tape he used to keep the cover down that has been melted by the sun and now it's baked on the paint job!! I took a new battery over to get it to start up, and when I took the old battery out, it looked like a fish tank in the battery tray. Also all the water stains everywhere are harsh looking. The car is in pretty good shape other than the front end damage. It has 43,000 miles on it. He has an offer right now to trade the car for a toyota (can't remember what kind) plus 4 grand. He says that will equal about 11,000. I'm at 8,500 for the car so I'm not sure if I'm in the ballpark or not. I just need some advice about the situation. Thanks

Hmmm, I dunno - sounds like it would require a lot of work. Are you sure the front end damage is just limited to the front fascia/bumper/hood/fenders (frame damage)?
Why did the guy choose not to have the car repaired after the deer crash? How long has it been sitting for - just winter? He sure didn't seem too interested in properly storing the car...

It is only worth how much people are willing to pay for it. For a banged up Cobra, I wouldn't give him more than 5 grand in that sort of condition. You can easily put 3 grand into repairing and paint and all in all the car will still be only worth 10-11 thousand.

I would personally find a high milage cobra....say 100-200k miles with all of the original panels. That way you can replace the mechanical stuff fairly easily and not have much effect on the value of the car.

I wouldn't go over $4000, and I would fix it myself (I assume you can fix it?).

He can get $11K for a wrecked Cobra?? He needs to jump on that.

depending on the color of the car and interior, if it has sunroof and its all original, i wouldn't give hime more than 5,000. you may still find original, non matching oem car parts. some guy wanted just under 9,0000 for a black with gray leather. but the fenders and hood was replaced. it didn't have two original wheels, the door tag was missing, so it may not be the matching door, it had a differenent came, maybe engine, it had turn downs, and rubber under the rear bumper from drag racing. it was from nebraska, and the tranny didn't seem to go in gear. it also didn't feel like it had much power. i wouldn't give more than 5,000 for it. so take those things into consideration.

5000 or walk. Its not that big of a deal. You can pick up a 93 with high miles cheap. God only knows whats wrong with that cobra besides what you said.

Just think about it your going to buy that car and its going to sit for a few months before you can even drive or mod it. Get your self a nice cobra that you can drive around and hook it up, you'll be happier.

I'd buy a 67 fastback if it had that kind of damage but not a 93 cobra.
