I want to go to a breather setup to try and stop oil from shooting out of my dipstick tube. Is there a way to put a breather on the passenger valve cover without getting a vacuum leak? I was thinking about putting the breather on the valve cover and plugging the lower intake manifold where the PCV valve goes into. Would this cause any troubles?

drill a hole in the valve cover. weld a tube on it, put a breather filter on it. make sure your welding is good before you try and start it up.

Is it ok to just block the PCV hole though?

If your going to plug it then you need a way to get pressure out of the crankcase via air breather at oil cap.

Have you checked your pcv yet?Did you check to see if the wire mesh under the pcv is clogged? What's your oil pressure at?Unless you are doing some severe engine braking(hard downshifting),you shouldn't have any issues with oil coming out from anywhere. You can run a valve cover breather and a pcv at the same time, and it won't cause any problems. No need to plug the pcv, just buy a new one along with a new mesh screen. If you were runnin a boosted setup,i would suggest getting a one way check valve, but I don't see anything in you sig to warrant it.

I have a new PCV valve and when I asked Autozone about the mesh filter under it, they looked at me like I was crazy. So I tried to clean it out, but it didnt work very well. The thing feels like it's solid metal.

Hmmm,...me thinks that might be part of the problem,...go to your local ford dealer to get the screen, should be 10 bucks.Might as well slap on a low profile oil breather while you're at it.

Also, make sure that the actuall pcv hose isn't clogged,...try blowing thru it,if you can't,change it.

I'm boosted. Can someone explain what this one-way check valve is? After the turbo install I noticed my dipstick gets pushed up some and hisses after the car is shut down???

A one way check valve will not allow boost to pressurize your crankcase.A stock PCV system usually lets boost by the valve, which is not good.AnAir 50psi check valve,or something simular, will solve this problem, that is also why you will always see oil breather caps on boosted cars,to relieve crankcase pressure.

Carb cleaner works very well in cleaning the mesh screen and pcv valve. I rarely ever buy a new one. Also, since you are boosted, you should probably run a breather. I bought a K&N one, it simply replaces the stock oil filler cap.
