I have a 98gt right now but i want ot get into a 99+. I think i know just about all the changes done between 00 and 01. Headlights, scoops, new console w/ 6 changer, spoiler. And didnt they go to a tremec 3650 halfway threw 01? Would it be worth it to spend maybe a little more and get an 01 up?

I can't get it up......ok that didn't sound right.

I would say spend the extra cash and get as new of one as you can. Newer typically means less miles so chances are the car will last you longer.

and warrantied.

yes, they changed to the t3650 in the middle of 01. if the driver's door jamb has a "K" under tranny it's a 3650.

JLstang-I'm in the same boat as you. I want a newer GT and possibly a vert but finding a good one is hard. I don't want to lose my shirt on my current car either. Good luck though, sorry I didn't contribute much.

Save up and get a DOHC motored car. Cobra or Mach 1. I wish I had forged internals. The Cobra is fully forged, while the Mach 1 only has a forged crank(manual). Its a big tradeoff. Affordable speed=GT. Reliability won't be as high as Cobra or Mach 1. Expensive speed=Cobra. THe Cobra will set you back a bit, but you know it will take 800-1000 hp. GT stock bottom end will take around 400 before stuff gets shakey. Mach 1 is around 500. Sorry if I didn't help you out that much, but honestly, I all too often contemplate trading in my GT for a screaming yellow Cobra vert (I work for FORD and get some crazy deals).

I agree with the Mach 1 statement. Then agian, if its his daily driver, he might not want that special of a car.

Well money is also an option here. payment and insurance. Right now My payment is $325 w/ 3 years left on my 98! I am only willing to go up to no more than $400 for my payment. So even if i get a 5 year loan i still wouldnt be able to get a mach 1. But I want one so bad!! The best deal i have found so far is a 01 w/ under 40k miles for $12,000. i am prolly going to go this weekend to look at that 01 gt. I will try to sell my car first, so i dont get ripped on a trade in. I just got a new job making a little more money so things will be looking good here soon. Heres a pic of my 98gt i want to sell. Looking to get around $9500 sound reasonable?
