Just wondering if there is anything I can do to hook? would doing a burnout or lrtting pressure out of street tires be of any use? Im gonna get BFG drags but just dont got the cash right now and I wanna see what the car can do. Thanks for the help.
Thanks man, im gonna be doing some practicing to find out what works best for me, I aint got the dough for tires right now so I may just wind up having to use the street tiresmob said:Set them at about 25-28 psi, and just spin the tires, maybe a 1 second burnout, you just wanna get any little things like gravel, dirt, etc. off the tires. Heating up street tires dosent do anything, so a burnout is pointless and just wastes tread. AVOID the water box as much as possible, its really wet all around the water box especially at OSW, try to not touch any of it. When you get up to the line, rev to like 1500 and slip the clutch, and floor it once you get traction. Doing exactly that Ive gotten a 2.0 on almost bald street tires. Every car is different, so youll have to see what works for you car, but there are some tips on things NOT to do.

I definitly have traction issues in 2nd and a little in 3rd. If I bang the gears hard I can spin 2nd prety good and get a little swirly, 3rd will chirp pretty hard also. I see what you guys are saying and this is some good advise, keep it coming if aqnyone has something different to add, I can use all the help I can get.25thmustang said:For my street tire runs (only ran one event, and had consistent 2.0 60's expect one 2.2 getting too aggressive off the line) here is what I did.
Drive around the water, and backed up in front of it (not into it). First gear heel/toe and spun the tires for a few seconds (got a decent haze off them). Rolled out of the burnout letting the RPMs come down till the tires hooked. Pulled into stage in the tire marks of the last car on slicks (picking your line can make or break a launch). I launched my car off idle, brought the RPMs up some to get it out softly, and when it hooked got my foot to the floor as fast as tirespin would allow. I was hooking in 2nd and 3rd without worry, so I was able to powershift, but some people seem to have traction issues in 2nd and sometimes 3rd.
Practice!!!
