Leaving Friday morning. I got the BFG drag radials put on today. Hopefully I don't break anything down there.

What size of drag radial did you go with? Those look like 15" wheels? Good luck and I hope everything holds together with all of those newly added ponies under the hood. I'm betting you'll get in the 12's!

I used a set of 275/40R17 BFG DR's for the first time when I went out to the track last(6-11-04). I had very consistant 60' times, 2.1s on every run on a 130* track temp. I don't think that I was getting them hot enough even though white smoke was pouring from the tires in the wet box. I think I could've left harder too but I was still breaking them loose off the line. I was running the tires @ 15psi. I normally run my 245/45R17 street tires @20psi and have a best 60' time of 2.0s with an average of 2.2s. So, I saw no real gain other than consistancy.

It's not very fun when I'm broke ass and 4 hours from home though...

Paul, go for it. I'm leaving in two hours, but I might catch something before I leave.

Best of luck Jake. Please come back to this thread and let us know your results. Don't sweat the ET so much - that will fall with experience. The mph will tell the potential. What rpm are you going to shift at? What gears do you have, I can help claculate some good shift point options.

Never mind Jake, I found your 3:73s on your page. I'll calculate your shift rpm data tonight - I'm offsite at a Microsoft "Project" training seminar today.

Jake, it will take awhile for those tires to break in. Most of my friends start getting better 60 foots after about a dozen burnouts/runs.

Good luck to you, sorry I couldn't make it this weekend. I'm headed to Byron, IL on my own quest for 12's.

Anybody have any opinions on if I should just drive the 500 mile round trip on the BFG's or if I should just swap them out at the track?

I would say definitely drive them to the track to help break them in. The Nitto salesman told me to drive my drag radials 100 miles to the track to help break them in.

Anyone know a good tire pressure for the street? I'm thinking something in the mid 20's?
