Hey guys, gonna run my car tonight at craptacular Sac Raceway. I'm not expecting stellar times there since the condition of the track is so poor, but I just had a question. I've got NT555R DRs and 4.10s... What's a good amount of air to run in the tires? Obviously they're at 35psi for the street right now, but I really have no idea what to drop them down to. Any help is appreciated.

What bolt ons do you have and I would run your tires at 15 to 17 lbs

I'll probably drop it down to 17. I really have no idea, since I've never run before. The car was out of commission for a bit and when she was back up and running the season was off, so I'm really excited to finally be able to go.

I ran my Nitto DRs at 20lbs and tried them lower, but it didn't improve times any for me, but I was (am) a noob when it comes to the track. 17 is a good place to start.

Sac raceway actually isn't bad at all, you just choose the wrong day to go. Track prep on wednesday nights isn't very good because its a crapload of cars on street tires, not to mention its packed, so you only get in a few runs. If you go to a test & tune on a saturdays, the track prep is great, & you can get in as many passes as you want.

Being midnight, I bet you're already out there. However, 15psi is a good start. Big 2nd gear burnout.

Hey guys, got some results. These were my three runs:

13.82 @ 105.8 - 2.13 60'
13.76 @ 105.2 - 2.16 60'
13.68 @ 105.0 - 2.00 60'

I don't think that was too bad for my first time. I need to improve my launches, was having traction issues. Even on my best run I was still spinning them a bit. Had a great time though, can't wait to go again and hopefully shave a few tenths off!

I ran 17lbs in each. Hopefully with a nice 2nd gear burnout it'll hook better. I was just reading about the Nitto DRs and apparently they need to be warmed up a lot to work well.

Yes, heavy 2nd gear burnouts will help that 60ft. You need a lot of heat in DR's for them to perform best.

Not to bad times. I thought I read a couple places that people running the nittos have had best results with a healthy 2nd gear burnout which has been mentioned and running anywehere from 20-25 lbs of air pressure. You would also think lower is better, but since they are a radial tire, I have heard a little more in the nittos is better. I think the key to launching on Nitto's is walking it out of the hole. When I had bfg kdws street tires I was able to get a 1.9 60' onthe norm walking my gt out of the hole, try that out and see if that helps

I ran 25psi in the 555r and did good but now I run 20 psi in the nt05r and hooks hard. If you get can get a 1.8 60, you should have a 13.2. Nice times by the way.

Good times for your mods and those 60 foot times. I'm a little unsure of the 105mph trap being accurate for your mods though. Not saying you're not telling the truth, but the track may be off.

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I know there's a lot of room for improvement, but I'm still learning. One thing I'm capable of is shifting really quickly (not to brag ), so I think that saved my times a little bit, lol.
