I'm starting to get more and more creative with my interior mods. I really like the look of the FR500 steering wheel, but it only comes in black. I don't really want to convert my interior to black, so I did some googling and found this kit. This company makes just about every color imagineable for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury, so I'm interested to see how this turns out. If it works out I'll probably see about doing a how-to or something.

oh nice, with as many worn out steering wheels that are on 94/95's that would make a good how to

its not just the color though, its the thickness. gives you a more positive feel when driving. i'm now used to driving my huge buick wheel and getting in the stang feels like i'm gripping a round pencil. The fr500 wheel has moved up my priority list....

Started re-coloring the steering wheel last night.

The kit was $58 from leatherworldtech.com

Started off with the cleaner and a light scuff with the supplied scuff pad.

A few light coats to start. This stuff pretty much has the same consistency as the vinyl spray from LRS. It says on the bottle that you can pour it into a spray bottle if you want to, so I may do that for the last coats.

This is pretty much where I'm at right now. I'm going to finish it up tonight so I can let the coats that are on it dry before I try to put more on there. Looking alright so far. I noticed that if you try to apply another coat (at least with the sponge they provide) before the last one is dry, you may rub off some of the last coat you applied. That's bad, mmkay.

I could see a two-tone steering wheel with this stuff. Tan top & bottom, with the sides still black.

That's actually a really good idea. Oh well. Too late.
