Well after reading these posts about dealerships not covering problems and blaming mods, ive decided to just make appearence mods to my Stang while i am still in warrenty.

Just wondering what you guys suggest, im not looking to do a complete body kit because i havent really seen one that catches my eye.

Think im gonna start with.

1. Mach1 Chin Spoiler
2. Grill Delete
3. Maybe S281 or a new trunk lid w/o the spoiler. (havent decided yet)
4. ??????

What do you guys suggest purchasing in the apperance mod section.
I dont want anything getto or ricey... like switching everything in the cockpit to chrome or painting the panels green or orange...

Just stuff that looks sweet..

Lemme know your suggestions.

personally, I dislike appearance over performance. I also had a warranty and there ARE many mods you can get away with under it. No offence, but whenever i see a mustang with appearance mods I always enjoy racing it to see if they put ANY money into the engine as well. Usually they haven't and it makes me sad.

Moral of the story. A warranty is the worst excuse to spend money on appearance mods. IF you want to, then just say so...

260 hp is enough to make some people happy, he can smoke most rice so if he wants to go appearance its totally understandable IMO :)

I have the Mach 1 chin and it looks good, but if I was gonna do it again and had enough money.. I'd get the full Cobra R Kit, including hood and front splitter, and get a Saleen race wing in place of the Cobra R Wing (cobra R wing is fugly to me)

The reason im doing the apperance mods over HP is. I have a deal with the dealership i bought the car from that if i get all service done from them i get free tires for the time i own the car. id like to at least get 1 more set out of them before i hear them tell me that "ohhh you made mods to the car and we cant warrenty it so you opt our of the free tires"...I figure that free tires priced at about $600 bucks is worth me waiting about a year for HP mods..

Hey, your plan sounds fine to me. If my Mustang was a daily driver, it would probably only have a cat-back and some appearance mods. Most dealers around here could care less if you swap out mufflers or bolt on a cat-back.

As far as body, just pick what you like and stick with a good company. My body guy said that the Steeda hood I have is the best hood he has ever worked with and he does a lot of street rod/resto work. Stick with the following companies for body parts/kits:

Good
- Steeda
- HO Fibertrends (OEM supplier for the '00 R hood)
- Xenon
- Cervini's
- Roush

Mediocre
- Saleen

Although the stuff looks good, the quality out of the box is crap. My 281 spoiler looked more like a urethane pretzel than a spoiler when it came out of the box. Saleen stuff will need much more prep work too look good than the other group above.

Poor
- ABC Exclusives: I believe they also operate under another name. There have been countless posts on The Corral about this company and their lack of quality, customer service, etc. In short, they suck.

- Cinncinati Composites

You are right, there are many mods you can get away with. My dealer just replaced my tranny at 12000 miles under warranty, and check out my mods list. I have both performance and appearance mods. Depends on the dealer though.

you got lucky then. most dealers look for any excuse to not warranty work.

I have had an S281 wing so I know where this post is coming from. HOWEVER, the S351 wing comes in MUUUUUCH better condition than S281, and it looks way better, too. Again, I have had both so I think my vote counts. If getting a new wing, I'd strongly recommend the S351. Go Saleen.
:nice:

Well, with honda accords coming out with 260hp and Acura TL with 270.. and Acura RL comin out with 300.. Some gears and a few breathing mods sure wouldn't hurt

i agree with doing appearance first.
get Cobra R front bumper, saleen replica wheels, BFG tires, Eibach 1.5" drop.
then get the KB 9psi kit for it.
i will have the KB in my car in 3 weeks

I had a head swapped under warranty with mods in sig. Its all about a good dealer.

I suggest new wheels and tires as the best appearance mod. Youll gain performance too and they look a lot better. Lowering would be good, its unlikely youll need warranty coverage on suspension stuff.

The mach 1 chin is nice. I dont like the grill delete, but most others do.

I think the roush stage 3 body kit is nice, then use the steeda race wing, and fr- 500 wheels, as far as performance mods, I had a warrenty on my car when i bought it, i took it in for warrenty work and they voided my warrenty because of pullies,t/b,off road h, flows and a comp chip. if i were you i'd def go with body mods, nothing impresses people more than a sweet looking nice sounding stang.jmo.Jayson
