Was there ever a gold package offered on a 64 1/2 Mustang? I am looking at one the guy wants $11,500 for it and says the gold is a rare factory option. It has gold anadiozed door handles, grill insert, taillight trim, gold leaf surround on the key locks in the doors, the trim on the quarter panel too. The trim at the rocker is chrome though. Anyone have info on this package, if it ever were one? Thanks

Seems to me that anyone selling a car with a rare option package should be willing and able to provide documentation verifying their claim that you can check against other sources. Like checking a 65 gt 350 against the shelby registry. If they can't provide proof of their claims then they probably are not someone you want to do bussiness with.

No. Not just in '64-1/2, but never.
(Unless some crazy rich guy special-ordered it and had enough money to create his own option sheet)

Only $11,500? If I was gonna spend a couple days and $100 getting stuff plated with a 2 molecule-thick layer of 10K gold to scam somebody; I'd ask at least $18,000 for it.

And you know, somebody wouldn't stop and ask, they'd just snap it up.

W.C. Fields was absolutely right; but you don't have to be the fool that's parted from his money.

You should ask the guy, "Are you sure its a special package ? I mean... are you sure it isn't.... nothing ?"

The only "gold package" I'm familiar with is the gold colored air cleaner that came on... what the hell was it... I can't remember exactly but I think it was the I6 Mustang Sprint package cars.

You should try and get a couple of pictures of the "gold package". I would love to see this.

You don't want the Gold Package. The Platinum Package car that I have is the hot ticket. For just a few K more than the lowly Gold Package I can sit you in the top of the line Platinum. You'll be the envy of all of your friends. On cruise night you'll have a crowd waiting to take pics of it and ask you all kinds of questions. You'll be the man among men.

The number to call is BR549. Ask for Junior.

He's decided not to buy it. I'll go by there and get some pics of it. The guy seems shady. It does have gold painted air cleaner and valve covers. In any case I'll snap some pics you guys can laugh about it.

There was a gold package, but it was in 1966 and didn't have anodized gold over the chrome. It was more than likely a hardtop with a gold paint job with black Pony interior.:
