Gonna get a shifter - which brand?

I just put my MGW in today. and OMG i have had a hurst before and drove my friends with a pro 5.0 but i love the MGW its so freakin nice. just a little flick of the rist and its there. but on the other hand though, has anyone else used the stop points. cause the directions say that there are stop points putin there alreay. anyway i have adjusted them to where they just barely hit. but when i took it for a road test after words i could sware i pulled a 0-60 in 4 flat. but thats mostly the kenne belle working there. but being albe to hit through the gears fast like that. man my girl was put back in the seat and stayed there unlike the way it was with the stock where she would go forward then slammed back again. i give this thing a 11 out of 10 great quality. oh and get the red handle you won't be disapointed.

The Blue Handle is the race version. Suppose to be even shorter throws than the Red Handle. I luv my Blue Handle. You can't go wrong with either one.

I am putting a TKO 600 in my 67. Can I bolt the shifter lever I have (Hurst Classic) to any of the aftermarket shifters? It will bolt to the stoc tremec tko.

whatever shifter you buy DO NOT USE shift stops these things cause undershifts when you install it wrong or it comes loose over time. there is no benifit too them . all tremec transmissions have built in shift stops. so unless you like bent shift forks leave them out.

if you like bent shift forks i have a t-3650 at my work with bent shift forks. i will trade your good tranny for it..

Yes the 3650 does not need the stops. Pull them out before you do any damage!

Everyone has their personal preference, you'll probably fall in love with whatever you get.

Anything will feel WAY better than stock, for under $100 I love my Blue Thunder

Mgw

I just ordered the MGW shifter. Looks easy to install, but I have a question. Do you use the same shifter cover (for lack of a better name) that came stock? I have an '02 GT. It looks to me like the cover is actually attached to the nob on the stock shifter. Do you know what I mean??

Just back them out, or screw them in as far you can, (so they will never touch the shifter handle) and lock them there

am i the only one that has never missed a gear with his stock shifter? i dont mind my stock one at all and now im paranoid that with a new shifter i will start to miss gears....for the record,i had the hurst on my old car but the t-5 shifted like poop compared to my bullitt so it just made sense to get a better shifter back then.

I haven't missed a LOT of gears, but none the less it has happened and I KNOW it wasn't a bad shift. I've heard so many good things about the MGW (Steeda and Pro 5.0 too) and I'm looking forward to the short shift. From what I hear is that these aftermarket shifters are just way better than the stock, so why not replace? I'll let you know after I install.

I have a Kirban short throw...had to specially order them a few years back (from what i heard anyways)

this is as short, if not shorter than my tri-ax i had

not to mention, VERY SOLID!!

Tri-Ax's aren't known for being a really short. The Pro 5.0 is really short!
