Would a 351w out of a 96 f-150 be any use to me if I wanted to drop it into my notch?

Its complete from intake to oil pan... less than 100k on it, and only 400 bucks.. Thought I'd ask and see what you guys thought.

yes thats a great deal. That should be a roller block too so you can just stick an aftermarket cam in there.

just heard new info from seller
"i wrecked the pickup a couple months ago and it busted the water pump pulley off and the oil filter housing."

is that going to be a big problem to fix?

So another maybe dumb question... but what else would i need other than headers to make this swap? I have a fresh built aod... and i dont race or push it hard... how would the rear end and everything else hold up?

well you're not going to want to drop the motor from a pickup truck directly into your mustang, a 1996 351W roller block can accept the majority of the aftermarket for 351W stuff that's out there... you'll want to swap out the heads/cam/intake at least, fuel injectors, throttle body, and calibrated MAF to match... don't forget about valvetrain as well... you'll need a swap oil pan and swap headers, i'm sure the 351W guys on here can chime in and help more than I can...

making the switch isn't worth it if you're just going to drop a stock pickup truck motor into a mustang, but why would anyone do that anyway?

depending on your power level i don't see any reason why your stock 8.8 wouldn't hold up, gearing will be the issue in that respect

I agree! I did the swap and you will need headers if going long tubes? IDK if shorty headers from a 302 will work? If shorty headers will work then you will need to modifiy your mid pipe cause the 351 is taller and wider.Oil pan and the pick up unless you buy a complete conversion kit.If your just dropping it in to replace the 302 you will need a new throttle body (mustang style) and the upper intake and possibly the MAF. If i remember right the trucks have an intake that goes to the driverside and the TB is a double inlet. But you also gotta also keep in mind if where you live has DEQ?The rearend in your car is fine but your torque boxes might not like you after a while!Look at my buils thread and i have a good little combo built and have about $5,000 into it.peace
