im trying to find whats a good exhaust setup for a good low price. i was looking at an off road x-pipe w/ flowmasters 40 series and w/ bbk shortie headers.
how does this setup sound ?
save your money and get a spintech exhaust system. dr gas makes the best o/r x pipes on the market. go to www.drgas.com and look at their x pipes for mustangs. their shorty x pipes look way different than all the rest and their design is far superior than the rest. the crossover is as close to the engine as possible and it really does make a difference in power and in sound. as far as mufflers they are all pretty close in power output. i perfer spintech over the flowmasters cause ive had both and the spintechs sound a little more aggressive.
hey black stampede, do you still have the longtubes and the x pipe? are they up for sale, if so i will gladly take them off your hands for you
would an x or h pipe for a fox body fit on a 94 model ?

How much more power? Can you prove it? What, if any, power gain would you see on a 302, maybe 2?
When buying the exhaust for street car, I've come to the following:
1 - Buy long tube headers.
2 - Buy a "high flow" cat system, its not worth the aggravation of swapping pipes for inspection.
3 - For a 302, don't debate X, H, or Prochamber for power reasons, do it for sound. The power difference is negligible, but you'll hear it forever.
4 - Dumps sound terrible.
5 - Multichamber mufflers will drone. Its the nature of the beast. Some are better or worse at this, but most of your typical 2 chamber "muscle car" sounding mufflers are going to drone on you.
6 - YouTube and sites like it are your friend for samples. Also go to carshows and ask people what they are running to get ideas.
7 - The phrase "screams at high RPMS" is terrible, everything screams at high rpms. You're driving a mustang, you'll be at "high RPMS" rarely. Get something that sounds great from 1000 to 2500. Thats where 99 percent of your driving will be.

im still looking for an o/r x-pipe but i dont want to spend alot. i was looking at PYPES x-pipe and heard good reviews about it. i wouldnt mind going for an h-pipe but it doesnt flow the gases out faster compared to an x-pipe. i want a good deep rumbling, hell on earths ound but also gains at the same time. i now have a double chamber flowmasters catback and bbk shorties. plus i have stocks cats on for the moment.
