Good loud knock at idle

I finished my second cam swap a couple weeks ago and have been chasing my tail ever since. There is a pretty good knocking sound at idle and at idle only. Once you bring it up on the R's it goes away. I took it out, drove it around and it runs fine, actually really strong. That leads me to believe that its not in the motor.

I have checked just about every besides tearing it down and pulling the trans. I checked to see if anything was hitting somewhere, retorques the torque converter bolts, pulled the starting to see if the flexplate was loose and came up empty handed.


Are there any suggestions? Should i pull the Trans to see if the flexplate is cracked, loose? tear down the motor again?


I must add that it did run fine b4 i tore it down.

take the belt off and start the engine, see if it knocks! (don't run it too long maybe a minute tops, remember the waterpump isn't turning)

Tried that....still does it.


Its more or less of a really loud chatter. Its hard to explain. It sounds like its coming from the bottom end but I really dont think it can be. It idles and runs fine besides the chatter at idle. Oil pressure is fine too.
