i got a call this morning from the top and most up to date body shop in the tri state area. and i'm hired. i start monday.

my current job has been cutting hours and giving me really crappy hours. and i just get treated like crap there from a lot of people.

so i am gunna be working full time now, 50 cents more an hour, full benefits, etc.

i know its a little off topic but i figured it was cool news and i've been so uptight lately hoping to hear good news back from them.

i am gunna be working extra hours at my current job still, night & weekend hours. for the next month, just to save a little bit of money up so i can finish up my plans that i wanted to do before the track opens back up in march.

let the mods begin!:SNSign:

thanks man. how old are you? 18 also?

i went to school for auto collision for two years. out of the whole class of like 30 kids, me and my friend are the only ones actually doing anything in the field.

the worst part is alot of younger kids don't want to work and are lazy as hell so employers think all kids are going to be like that. i have quite a few friends who are working stupid silly jobs, that require no work at all and are complaining about it.

Congradulations,

I have to slow my role on mods, just found out the other week that I am having another kid, and I got to start planning the wedding blah blah blah!!!

Oh well, I am putting away $300 every week for my own seperate car fund. By spring I should have a good chunk built up.

OH and I have to find the ol' lady a new car because she rolled hers LOL...Id let her take my Jeep but I use it to much!

yeah, everyone told me i was crazy when i told htem i was looking for another job with the economy the way it is.

but the way it was looking, my current job wouldn't last long in this economy. small mom and pop shop for a hobby that not many people are still buying into because of the expenses.
congrats windfarmer. thats exactly what i plan on doing. i can't save up money in my debit account so i want to just add money to a savings that i can't touch till a certain date, and add so much each month, and use that towards modding my car after i'm done at my current job.

dan what did you go to school for? i've heard so many things about where people went to school for things where they were guarenteed a job when they got out but with how everything is now they can't find a job. luckily some things are more necessity then others. people will always be crashing their cars haha.

Congrats Wind-Farmer on the expected, my buddy just went through planning a wedding so I can sympathize somewhat.

I just got my masters in physics, I've only been really looking for about a month so I'm not that worried yet, we'll see. I'm looking mostly at working for an oil company as a geophysicist, so I can find our oil! I may have to broaden my search somewhat.

good luck with the job. are you the technician or helper? they pay hourly? commission sucks right now. too much volatility week to week. i keep thinking about getting back to the bodyshop, but prefer steady paychecks.

there are about 8 shops in the omaha area looking for a bodyman. that means there is not enough work in the area to keep employees happy right now.

right now i'm going to be detailing cars and doing the car lot. the way this place works is they have you start off doing things like that, then they slowly acclimate you into the bodyshop. my friend zachs been working there for a year now started like i am, and he is about to be the painter.

i'll be helping out in the paint shop also prepping cars for paint. i'm getting paid hourly. 50 cents more an hour then my current job + full benefits and full time hours. and i'll be working a few nights a week and weekends for this month just to get a little extra cash at my current job.

this place has quite a few cars in the body shop. they are one of the more popular shops for people to go to.

tonight was pretty much my last longer night at my current job. i start monday morning at the body shop.

and i know of a few other body shops in the area because of friends that worked at them, and everyone of them got laid off because the shops weren't doing hot.
