hey guys, i have been searching like crazy, but can't find any thoughts on this oil. i just got some VR1 50w race oil, for a very very good price. and i have seen it many times and have been curious, but i was wondering, what do u guys think about it. i have a 94 cobra on quaker state high horpower blend and a 88 lx on the same. should i give it a try? thanks

Do you drive it often, or purely race it?

Maybe if you lived on Mercury straight 50 weight would be good in a daily driver, but not here on earth. You need it to flow more easily when cold.

i would probably use it in the 88, that is mostly race, few little cruises to play around, that's pretty much it.

is a thinner oil not holding up for you? i would only step up to molasses if 20-50 and others were not doing it for me.

good luck.

ur not gonna want to run straight 50 on the street. Your engine will hate it on start up. I run Mobil 1 15-50 full synthetic with my vortech. If you're not running a power adder, I'd stay with 5/10-30/40 weight oils.

I run the VR1 Valvoline 20W50... I like it. Used it in my 83 and now in my 90.

I agree for the street that seems too thick, IMO

ive run 50 weight in an air cooled turbocharged car before, but even that did not hold viscosity. i did not feel too good about it (mild ambient temps too).

yeah, i run 10w 30 right now , and 10w 40 in the summer. i was just curious if i should go ahead and use this at all. both stangs are n\a, no boost at all. i have a turbo nissan, maybe i'll give it a shot there. any certain oil you guys think i should maybe go with, for my stangs. the cobra is everyday car(have fun sometimes) and the 88 is strictly business(fun about 99% of the time, the other 1% is backing out the driveway )
