is this possible? i know you can get paint supply places to put your paint in a rattle can but how good is this to do? i have another post going right now about possibly buying a gun but lets say i dont, can i get good quality paint and clear coat in a can for a small job? what makes this a bad thing to do? anything? is it the same if the paint is the same? is duplicolor you see everywhere absolute crap? does anyone even check the shine section anymore?

i have used the dupli color with a clear on my quad and wet sanded and buffed it and it came out very good.Look at Eastwoods site and they sell a refillable bottle spayer(your local paint supply might have it too)It comes out ok,but you have to watch for dry spots when you overlap your strokes

I know you can buy ford paint in a spray can and the clearcoat. I bought some touchup paint from this place and I was thinking about guying it in the can. It's http://www.paintscratch.com/
As a painter rattle cans make me cringe. Its just not something that I would ever do or use. But im used to very nice quality paints and spray guns. My clear gun is around $500. But its all in your hands. You have to make that choice. How do I want this to look in the end? If you use a pro paint gun and paint line its gonna out last out shine and totally out perform any spray can. There is no way a rattle can can spray a hi solids clear or heavy base even if its ppg in a rattle can. It is a paint desined for a spray gun that can attomize the paint into very fine particles. A plastic can will not do this. If your gonna use a rattle can use the paint that it is desined to spray. But it still makes my stomach hurt.
this is more along the lines of what i was expecting to hear, i dont even want to say "spraypaint" when it comes to the car, but oh well. i guess i expected the paint lay down less than perfect, but i was curious how decent it could look with a good prepping and color sanding afterwards? can the negatives of using a can be fixed, to some degree, with a good cut-n-buffing?
ok heres a question about clearcoats. except for the inherent ghettoness of what im asking, just assume its hypothetical...how would you rate duplicolr's clear coat? i am thinking of getting my base coat from an auto paint supplier, and then spraying duplicolor clear on it. i heard that they dont mix hardener in their clears for a can, is this correct? im a little hazy on the whole process, if some gets a minute i would love an education, minus any headshaking for spray painting something 
I work at a Sherwin-Williams, but not the automotive one, but we do sell the bottle sprayers. From my experience, they are HORRIBLE. I used one to repaint a sink with a special epoxy that was as thin as water and it sprayed it like it was silly string.
