Good shop in MA or NH for a gear change

Hey, all-

I have a completely stock (K&N doesn't count) 97 Cobra w/43K miles. About time that I started to change a few things..... While I am saving up for the 2006 Cobra anyway. So I am looking for a good shop for a gear change. I thought that I heard of one called CE Racing or something like that. Any suggestions?

At least people on here know about Leonard's, now if only people will realize about the other scumbags out there then maybe this industry would get better[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the input guys.... I spoke with Mike at Dez Racing and it looks like I will give him a try. Now I just need to decide between the 3.73's and the 4.10's (and of course a pro 5.0 so that I don't keep missing third gear). Oh well. Thanks again.

there is no decision to make here 4.10s minimum, you won't be disapointed however you may wish that you went with the 4.30s

speaking of which has anyone tried 3.90s in a 4V??
I was thinking of them because 4.10s cause you to shift just before the traps, i wonder if the 3.90 would narrowly avoid that situation

redcobraguy , i have 373's in my car and they are fine alot of people said do 410's but i didnt want to listen never been in a car 4v that had 410's so i really cant compare .


and to the other posters on this thread , find me a shop that charges 50/hr for labor rates and will Warranty Work . cause last time i checked no one will waranty "high performance work" .and guys u know how it is . no one can post baad things about shops cause whenever someone does they get about 20 people on there case . but every one likes to hear good storys .so i am not going to say anything about any shops ,but i will say i have had at least one expericence with about every shop around this area . and have never been happy with any of them . we all have our favorite shops and favortie guys to work on our cars but some of them might not be another guys favorite . the origanl poster asked for some names that was all .

oh ya i also give a vote to Doug Morgan .matter of fact i have one of my stangs up there know

Go over to Corral and do a search for my friend, his screen name is notchstang92. He posted some experiences w/ laferriere, dez, MPE, Leonards and I forget who else. His experiences are 100% accurate and he posted only the facts. I know Laferriere didn't like it and neither did MPE, but they can't argue w/ him because its the truth.

My car came out perfect. No whines from the rear end and the speedo is correct too. The subframes really did make a difference, I got the full length maximum motorsports ones. 4.10's are great for the 4v. I do 80 mph in 5th gear at 3K RPM's. You almost don't need to give it gas when you let the clutch out anymore either. Once again Doug Morgan came thru for me and my car has 0 problems. I also saved almost $200 over the competition on the installs. I like being able to drop off my car and not worry about it and have it done right the first time. This is the first IRS car he ever did gears in and it came out perfect. I still can't figure out why people still go to all these other shops and pay twice what the job is worth and not get a warranty w/ the work. Now if I can just get Doug more into the 4x4 truck scene that will be a good thing, someone has to keep people from going to places like Reid's and getting raped on prices and installs. I also own the first suspension lift he ever installed and that came out perfect as well, but thats not suprising to those of us who know him.

cevtv, u got qouted 200 bucks for gear install plus welding in subframes connectors oh and a speed cal ? u supply the gears and subframes?? oh ya do u have IRS ?i dont know if maybe u changed over to IRS or if u have another car with that setup...... all i know is 01blacksvt called around and was getting prices and what not and saved some money for the same or better quality job for one of the "other" shops


oh ya just for kicks and what not i have been calling around to local shops for prices on installs and i supply parts and how come i always get this " well u will be looking at some what around xxx price could be more or less but i would say around that price it all depends " how come for these mustangs shops they dont have a set price they do so many of our cars they cant say well labor will be xxx price ....
