Got a 4.6L SOHC 2V...Need some Help...(Please Read...)

Thanks for looking......To anyone that can help here i'm looking to do some Mods to my car...The car is an 00' Saleen Non-Supercharged....I have the ability to get a Lightning motor fairly cheap.....Can the heads be used ? I know this motor is too tall but can it be helpful in anyway ?....Also someone suggested doing Expedition Heads on the car.....I know I can go the Supercharger route but wanted to see what else is out there.....Looking to spend about 2k....Figured heads, intake and a cam.....Any and All suggestions Aprreciated....Thanks

No such animal as a SOHC 4V that I know of. Would take a whole lotta lobes to drive 4 valves off 1 cam.

#1) the Lightning blower will not fit on the 4.6L because it is designed to fit on the 5.4L block where the heads sit farther apart.

#2) the Expedition heads are the exact same heads on the Mustang.

Yes you can use 5.4L heads on your car, with the corresponding new Mustang intake. I'm using 5.4L heads on mine, same part number, PI heads. The 5.4L block has a taller deck height, which in turn puts the heads farther apart. There are many companies out there that sell more aggressive cams for our cars.

The heads as they are right now are the same exact things. But something to consider would be to send them out for a nice port and polish job, better valves and springs, and some new cams. With the extra set of heads, there would be less downtime on the car as it wouldn't have to sit in a garage with no heads on it.

Doing that, combined with longtube headers and offroad pipe would make a sweet N/A engine. Depending on how deep his pockets are, a worked Bullitt intake on top of that would be amazing. That would definately get him into the 300's......all N/A.

The heads are the exact same thing, it's just that the 5.4L engine block that the Lightning uses has a taller deck height. Therefore, the heads are going to sit further away from each other. It would be some custom work, but I would assume it's possible to make some sort of adapter, like an extra manifold between the blower and heads to make a Lightning blower fit a 4.6L. But it would probably cost enough to not make it worthwhile at all.

As for exhaust, it sounds like you're asking about a mid-pipe specifically. From what I've heard, the Dr. Gas offroad x-pipe is the best, but it's very labor intensive as you recieve it in pieces and need to have it all welded together. As an upside though, that means each car can have a perfect custom fit.

Yes the intake has been modified from various ford designs to make it work. I've seen some ghetto stuff. Your best 5.4L resources are going to be found on corral.net. There is alot of talk about 5.4L swaps etc. You should be able to find the information you need to get started on a project like this.

Caps lock isn't necessary

Id guess you could get about 290 - 300 rwhp out of that combo with the right cams and full boltons.
