it seems to be stuck in reverse

I want to pull the tail housing off and I have to reseal the top plate also but I have never messed with a tranny before, just a little experience with them

I did remove the shifter and the slider is stuck to the far left from a top view with the tail between your legs (if that makes sense)

does anyone know of a good book that I can get to do some work on this tranny

Try getting a hold of a set of Ford factory manuals off of EBay. They have a transmission section in them each year. They cover complete disassembly and reassembly. I'm sure there are also other T5 repair manuals out there too.

Probably something is stuck in there.

Last year I pulled the transmission out of my Bird to replace the tailshaft bushing. While I had the tailshaft off, something happened with the transmission and I couldn't get the tailshaft back on.

I ended up pulling the top cover, the reverse linkage was all bound up and that's why it wouldn't go back on (I have no idea how that happened). I got the Ford T5 service manual off the internet and was referencing it to try to figure out what was going on.

I downloaded a PDF file of a manual to rebuild the T5 from the internet some time ago. I could email it to you if you give me your edress. 74 pages with lots of illustrations.

T5 manuals are all over the internet. D&D Motorsports, Hanlon, and some others have the T5 manual online, and you can buy them in paper from them also.

Chilton and Haynes are decent also. The trans is nearly the same in Jeeps as it is in Mustangs, and I used a Haynes and a MM&FF article to fix my CJ7 trans a couple years ago.

Not a real hard trans to deal with.
