So I just bought a 1994 Mustang GT 5spd with 130,000 on it. Runs and drives great but the check engine light is on and my coolant temp. gauge isn't moving up or down. I figured the light was on because it has no cats and is maybe triggering a sensor. As for the temp gauge I think its somekind of sensor since the car doesn't over heat, and it had plenty of time to do so when I drove it home yesterday. (2hr drive)

Thanks
Will
BTW Do you guys know anyplace I can run my vin to check out the cars history online???

Your gauge trouble sounds like the sending unit and light is most likely your o2 sensors...you can try replacing or finding some mil eliminators for them ..
again nice car and welcome to :SNSign:

Well since you bought a Mustang, the first thing you must do it go to a parts store and get a $30 code puller. Trust me you will need it.

Pull the codes and it will tell you why your CEL is on.

As far as the water temp gauge, check the connections at the temperature sensor. Its kinda behind the distributor.

O.K. thanks for the help guys.

BTW Can you guys post a few pics of your ghetto rigged air intakes, I'm trying to save money by just rigging one up with the stock air box and everything.

My C.E. light is turns always on when I play with the car a bit... Been doing that since I have the car, pretty sure it's the non-cats. No biggie.

I put my O/R H-pipe on a few months ago, and everyonce in a blue moon, I will get a CEL under WOT. And its always an O2 sensor.

not a great idea these "warm air intakes" basically a cone on stock intake actually looses HP due to heat soak... just buy a cheap infender one

Ya, I'll have to do the in fender intake after I find a fender well.......

I didn't think the check engine light was a real big deal, hell every car my family owns has some kind of check engine light on. lol
