Hey gals and girls, I need your help. I have a 94 gt, and i have a problem with the Transmission Control Switch and my Secondary-Air Induction (codes 532 and 314 respectivly) I put in a new MAF, thinking that woud take care of my "air induction", cause my Barometric Pressure Sensor was bad, but it didnt help. I dont know where to start at. My car wont rev past 4000 in drive, and it wont accelerate at all. The engine will rev, to that point, and the transmission shifts, but the car wont accel!!! I hope there is someone at there who knows about this problem or maybe knows someone who doe. any help would be greatly apprectiated!! thanks

The service manual for a 94 lists code 532 as - "Cluster Control Assembly (CCA) circuit failure" Code 632 is "Transmission Control Switch (TCS) circuit did not change states during KOER" Perhaps your gauge is just reading wrong.

Code 314 is listed as "AIR system inoperative during KOER (Bank #2 w/dual HO2S)" That is the thermactor (smog) system, not the MAF. Code 311 is for bank 1. Are you also getting a code 311? Is your smog pump disabled?

This is just a guess, but if you have a functional thermactor system, air gets dirverted (sometimes) to both heads. If one gets the air, then the other gets the air (it goes through one tube). If only one side gives a error, then perhaps the tube or head is plugged on one side and not the other.

If you have a disabled smog pump system, then code 314 is to be expected, along with code 311, I think.

we ran a diagnostic test at a local ford dealership i work at. we got the 314 and 632 codes. the code 314 is for bank #2, and there was no code for bank #1. so i will have to check on somethings in the "air flow" department. the tube from my egr to my cat is not connected, that might have something to do with that....as for the 632, transmission conrtol switch, i think the switch itself might be bad, but i will have to remove it to find out. if anyone has any info, it is more than appretciated. and thanks to "rick" for you help

Ok, so the code was 632 and not 532. The service manual lists this as a KOER code only. It says:

DTCs 65, 632 and 653 indicate the Transmission Control Switch (TCS) was not cycled between engine "ID Code" and the "Goose Test" in Key On Engine Running (KOER) Self-Test.

Possible Causes:

-- TCS damaged or switch not cycled during self-test.

-- Shorted harness.

-- Damaged Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

-- Open harness or fuse.

*********

I believe that this switch is the overdrive button? It seems to imply that during the KOER test, you are to cycles the switch, like the BOO switch. If you didn't do what it wants, it will give this code, like code 536 (Brake On/Off (BOO) circuit failure/not actuated during KOER) does.

Of course, if you cycle it and the switch is broke, it will give this code. Was the TCS cycled during the KOER test? If so, then:

* Key off.

* Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.

* Install breakout box, leave PCM disconnected.

* Key on, engine off.

* Measure voltage between Test Pin 41 and Test Pin 40/60 at the breakout box while cycling the transmission control switch several times.

* Does the voltage cycle?

Yes? REPLACE PCM. REMOVE breakout box. RERUN «Quick Test».

If no then you have a switch problem.

***********

This is the first time that I've researched this code and switch, but it doesn't sound like it would cause any driveability problems.

code 314:

The EGR doesn't connect to the cats. I assume that you meant smog pump to cats. Is the rest of the system there? The smog pump feeds into the AIRB valve then to the AIRD valve which goes to both the cats and the heads. If you are just missing the hose from the AIRD valve to the cats, and the hose to the heads is intact, I'd GUESS that it would feed the heads correctly.

My smog pump is disabled, and I get a 311 and 314.

as far as I know my PCM is okay, atleast i hope it isn't, i hear one of those is expensive. i took that out already and looked at it, and saw no visible damage at all. nothing looked damaged or anything, but it may have just "worn out", if they even do that.

as for the smog pump, i never unhooked it, so it should be hooked up still. i only get the 314 code, and not the other one. the tube from the smog pump to the cat is not connected, but i am hopefully putting on my mac pro-chamber soon. that will hopefully cure that problem. i need to get a free day where i can just work/look at the car all day and find out what the hell is going on.

soon i may take apart the concole to inspect my TCS and see what the switch condition is. i just want my stang to run like a gt should....

You just solved your own problem.

If you dont depress that button at least once WHILE IN TESTING, that code will come on. Try re testing and turn it on and off during the test. See if still comes on.

I get that and a brake code if I dont depress the brakes.

Agreed, and FWIW - the brake code is 536.
