When i turn the A/C on for the first time after starting the car...a few seconds later a get a pop / backfire noise coming from what seems the engine bay / near the firewall. Anybody ever experience this. A/C works fine but the noise is kinda loud and strange. This is on the 2003 GT btw

you ought to get a helper and raise the hood to see where it is coming from. Be sure to wear some safety glasses.

Haha I have a 2003 GT with the same problem. I brought it in and they told me when the A/C engages one of the lines hits the firewall. They said it was normal and there wasn't a fix for it. I have just learned to live with it. I think there is actually a TSB on it too. Good Luck fixing it. If you find out what it is let us know.

i think I know the problem to this.go over to mach1registry.com and look for TSB's and recalls on the mach's,there is a section there for it.I forgot exactly what it is but its not a bad problem just an annoyance.
There is a TSB listed for the mach that says something like, after the car is started and the ac on,there is a line in the engine bay that I guess preasure rises and causes the line to hit something.I know the fix is very simple, all you need is that foam insulation from like lowes or home depot that I beleive is used for pipes, just put that on and it cushions the line and deadens the sound. The reason I know is because my 04 Mach does this same thing just been too lazy to fix it since its not dangerous for the car.I just can remember what line needs the cushion.

Oh an 00stang you are correct I just didnt read all the posts before I posted.

Probably should address it however. That will wear/fatigue that brittle hose and can cause it to crack under the 200+ PSI pressures that R134a systems operate with
