I LOVE the wood steering wheels in the old Shelbys. (probably because my '65 fastback came with one) So I when I saw that someone was making these for the 05's, I HAD to have one! Now some blue stripes and I'll be Shelby-ized. :D

Got it from a company called Alliance Technology (http://www.stwheel.com/) They make steering wheels for just about any car. It was $999 plus a $200 core charge.

It's amazing! You'd never believe how good it feels.
I was real worried it was going to be slippery, especially if my hands were sweaty, but it's not at all. It's slick but not slippery, if that makes any sense.
IMO, it feels better than the leather. VERY comfortable.

yeah it looks great and sounds like it'd be nice, but yeah 1G is a lot of scratch. Maybe once I finished all the mods on my car I'd think about it. Not that I'm back into a Mustang yet so it's all moot. But if I did that's what I'd do. :)

Nice unique piece though, enjoy!

You better just mail that to me I think it would look just great in mine with the parchment interior..

Thanks, everybody. I have a tendency to do mods like that. Back when I had my '03, my friends said I was crazy for spending $300 to get orange turn signals. Little did they know how much worse it would get.:D I told them I'd be the only GT with them because no one else was dumb enough to pay that much.

Insane? Somebody called me? :D
$500 was actually the top number I had in mind at first... then I just couldn't stop thinking about it.

New pics.

why does it cost that much? i mean its basically a curved piece of wood thats been treated to handle stress pretty well am i wrong? i mean it looks pretty good, imo out of place in a mustang unless you decked out the entire interior with wood but what causes it to be one thousand dollars. that just seems ludicris

Well I'm glad you like it. It does look unique. While I would never give that much for it. To each his own.
Hey, some would say that my 04 cobra is not a practical car but I still have it. We all have our own priorities, likes and dislikes. Enjoy your car.
