Made a trip up to CJ Pony today and picked up one of the Ford Racing aluminum shafts, and WOW it made a world of difference... I had a nasty vibration from my old driveshaft and it's completely gone... I love being able to cruise at 80 and not feel like my car is going to fall apart! Now I see why they are so great

Yeah I know, it really sucks... I have last year's CJ Pony catalog and it's listed at $168 haha This year it's $244... oh well, I have been needing that driveshaft for awhile so I just bit the bullet... smooth sailing from now on

ok, I now I get it, I was thinking the wheel moved faster, not the driveshaft. (Higher rpms..) :bang:
if you have stock 2.73's or whatever, it takes 2.73 revolutions of the driveshaft for the wheel to spin 1 full revolution; consequently, changing to 3.73's means the driveshaft has to now turn 3.73 times for 1 full wheel rotation. The same speed (wheel revolutions) now requires more driveshaft revolutions=more engine revolutions.

I know you knew that, just saying :nice:

Yeah I bought mine about 4 yrs ago and I paid $149 for mine. :D

hahaha me too....But I wonder if they changed the design. Made the shaft smaller in diameter or someting? For the extra 100 bucks. Cause mine is kinda big compared to the stocker. I agree though it made my car run as smooth as ice. It was a night and day difference. :)

I've got a couple of AWD Aerostar ones at my place I'm going to try to have shortened to work with my Cougar. Even if it costs me $100.00 to have them chopped and balanced, it'll still save me a good chunk of change. :D

I dont think they changed the design, I bought mine several years ago and it too is nice and fat compared to the stocker!

Right, alum DS's are about 1/2" greater in diameter (IIRC) than a stocker. supposedly the high price of alum some time ago and a redesign was responsible for the price bump. seemed strange to redesign an old part though.

is it really worth it over buying a new steel driveshaft? price wise and such? my car vibrates like a BASTARD at anything above 75. when i put the pro5.0 in it really got more noticeable. I have to buy one soon or get mine rebalanced cuz it drives me nuts, and im swapping the 355's and new trak loc when i get home. stuffs been in my garage for ever

Put it this way...i kept my stocker just in case i ever decide to get a different Fox Mustang, because if i do, my drive shaft is staying with me.
