Got cobra bumper w/ lip... What license plate bracket do you suggest?

I had the ford dealership order a factory bracket for me which is there waiting for me, but the more i looked at pics it seemed like the stock one was kinda ugly. I wish i didnt have to have a front plate, but ill be askin for tickets without one. I picked up a generic mouting kit and frame last night from autozone, now my prob is trying to figure out a place to mount it. If i mount it over the opening towards the bottom of the bumper i either have to have it only mounted by the top two screws or if i use all four, its on a slant facing slightly down. Only place it would mount flat was the factory location, but if im mounting it there i might as well go factory i think. My car isnt painted yet, and i just dont want it to look cheap once painted. Any suggestions?

I've seen people make some brackets that attach to the core support, then come out through the lower grille opening then bend straight up, then the plate mounts to that. If I had to run a front plate, that's what I would do. This way you don't have any ugly black plastic, and if you ever end up not needing a front plate, there will be no damage to the bumper.

I think it's LOW5.0 who somehow got it to stay behind the cobra bumper, but you can see it through the opening on the bottom. It would be interesting to see how he did it.

if anyone has any information on the bracket people have been making, please let me know. as far as the plate behind the bumper, wouldnt that be illegal? i work at a machine shop, making that bracket would be very simple i just would like to see how other people have done it and what location looks the best. I was thinking it might look a little weird having it over the lower opening. If anyone has any pics of cobras with plates located in non factory positions please post, thanks... appreciate the comments

I keep mine on my dash on the passenger side; my buddy with an Evo does the same. The laws differ state to state, but the last one I read just stated it had to be readily visible from the front. I've never had any trouble with mine and I live on base (where the cops are anal about EVERYTHING).

I've heard that it's not a very good idea to run the plate on the dash. Why? We because if you get into an accident, that thing could fly back and cut you head off. I don't know if it's possible, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Found a pic a guy posted over on SVTPerformance.com

he said: "Here's a shot of bracket I mentioned above. It's made of 2" x 1/8" (gauge??) steel stock. Use 2, 3/8" x 1" stainless bolts. I have threaded inserts welded into steel bumper underneath. Fits real nice...brackets almost invisible."

Found another guy on the SVTP who actually made and sold some kits to do this. I can PM him and get his email addy for you if you wanna see if he has any to sell. Here was his post about the bracket.

Also, it appears this kit may be made to fit a Terminator, but I can ask if he has any for SN95's.

The second kit I posted (the one mounted on a DSG cobra) was going for $38 shipped. I would have to check and see if the guy is still making them.

The first one (the one made from black flat bar) is just a bracket that a user fabbed up for himself.
