Got engine running and have a few questions.

you are going to take it to a shop to tighten down header bolts?

haha yea yea

thanks for that Joe, I went there and got the allen cap bolts, ill put those on later when the headers are cooled down.

What side of the engine is the noise comming from? Im assuming its a tapping or ticking noise. I had a problem with with the third roller rocker hitting one of the baffle bolts on the passenger side. I have FMS Cobra valve covers which are somewhat similar to yours. My rocker was just barely hitting.

Hmm that may be it, I bought the hex style bolts so we'll see if it fixes a possible exhaust leak, if the noise is still their ill look at the valve covers. Im like 95% sure the valve covers are fine, I checked to make sure they would clear the rockers before the heads went on, and they were fine, with the gasket it would have even more clearance. You can hear the noise, its kinda like mentioned before, sounds like 16 little sewing machines, but I think it could also be an exhaust leak just because the noise is LOUD at the passenger back of the header. So we'll see, ill keep you guys updated, I havent had time to change the bolts cause i have to let the car cool down, havent had a chance.

Get a piece of vacuum hose, put one end up to your ear and the other on various parts like the valve cover and near the header you think is leaking. You'll be using the vacuum house kind of like a stethascope.

I made sure my rockers cleared too, but it still just barely hit this bolt. All I had to do was remove the bolt. Touch the valve cover, if you dont feel a knocking on it then its probably fine. My RRs have a very slight tick to them kind of like a quiet sewing machine, and they kind of whistle faintly too.

and dont be afraid to rev past 5k. the b-cam has low lift, you only are pushing .480 with 1.6s and thats hardly nothing worth mentioning.

i bet the springs will take it.

my thumper i think have a stock spring or very close to stock and i rev the piss outa my car and havnt had the valves float once.

kk cool guys, and ill try that 79pacecar, im gonna go ahead and put the hex bolts on the headers so i know have no exhaust leak. I wanna get this damn vacuum leak fixed, that broken upper intake bolt is killing me :(
