well i got my stangs aod in w/ a 2k-2600k converter no shift kit cause this is was a junk yard swap to save money and make the car streetable to take to the body shop and storage etc....

well...i must say,,,,this thing is seriously wrong.....or these things are dogs!!!!
im sad....my old 5spd use to whip some neck a lil but this thing is like a boat. it is stil low on fluid probaby 2-3quarts.. but x-mas closed all the stores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:( so i cant put any in....it seems really messed up..... like it doesnt repsond etc.... but i was told thats what the trq converter will make it feal like...... trq converters are tricksters to the old butt dyno.....

what to expect, opinions on the fluid. etc etc.....

Low fluid levels can cause a major lag if there isn't enough getting into the torque converter .. I'd see how much it improves from topping it off to correct level before you go looking for broken parts.

2 to 3 quarts low is a serious condition and I wouldn't even try to move it like that. ATF is critical to lubricating and cooling a auto tranny and you risk serious damage playing with it when the level is that low. I'm suprised it even moved at all.

Absolutely right. To the OP, don't even drive it until you have the correct level of fluid in the trans. To correctly check the level, the car should running.

The loose converter makes it feel like a slug. I have a Art Carr aod with a 2600 stall. It has a shift kit in it. The only mods on the car as of now are 3.73s, pulleys, and frame connectors. It feels like a slug in town. It did run 14.20s at the track tho. HCI and a 100 shot goin in this winter. Lookin for 11s come spring.

well got the fluid topped! its a little better, but its still a dog...i dont have a tag or catback so im not really going higher than 3k....bu i did rip it once and after 3k i felt that old pny feeling i remeber. but no trq breaking off the lines.......:(
i think some 3.73,3.90.or 4.10s(next mod after purchasing exhaust) will definately help me!!!

For what it costs to do a t5 swap, and no stronger than thay are.......(this will piss on the parade of many) Go to the junkyard get a 99 up v6 aod-e, get a controller from Baumen eng. and kick the crap out of the nah sayers. It has the wide ratio gear set in it as well . That makes a 3.55 gear effectivly a 4.20 gear. An automatic isnt a death sentence to power or performance. If you like the auto keep it. Some times you just haft to go against the grain. And if nobody ever did we would never learn. If MPG is a concern( and I assume it is not, since you put a stall in)You will be much happier with a t5. I lost 7mpg with the converter install.
