I FINALLY got my new wheels and tires mounted and have a couple questions about the results. First off, the wheels are the chrome Wheel Replica bullitt's (17x9 and 17x10.5) and I had Goodyear Eagles GSD3's mounted (315/35's and 275/40's). I think they look TITS, myself...and pics are coming this aftrnoon

So, my questions are:
1. When the tires were balanced, the tech used the adhesive wheel weight that go on the rear of the wheel and not on the lip-edge. Within 40 miles of driving, I've already lost the wheel weights from all 4 wheels. Nothing better than hearing them fling off and ricochet off the undercarriage of the car How important are the weights and is it worth having them redone...just to have them fling off again?

2. Since these tires are much wider than stock, I already expected the ride to be a tad harsh (especially since the car is also lowered 1.5" all the way around), but at ~60mph and at ~80mph the car has a very noticible 'hop'. If I accelerate through these points, it's not felt...only while cruising at the specified speeds is it obvious. Would a tire alignment correct this? I didn't have time to get it done due to schedule, but might go today.

Thanks in advance

Better get them re-balanced. Have them use some real adhesive in addition to the foam tape. If the balance is good, should cure your other problems.

Curious as to where you got the 10.5 rims - I'm looking at some on: http://customwheelsmarket.com/formusbul17c1.html , but i'm not sure how reliable this company is.

You should get those re-ballanced.

Ok...just got off the phone with the place who mounted/balanced the tires. They said to bring it by and he'd fix it up nice

As for where I got my wheels, they were sold by a guy named Jeff on eBay. He sells other wheels besides the WheelReplicas' Bullitt wheels. I think his ebay name is Wheelindex or Wheelindex.com. I got my chrome 17x9 and 17x10.5's through him (all 4) for $750 plus shipping. I didn't think that was a bad price and they look WAY better in person

the digital camera is not cooperating at the moment

Yep balancing is def. needed. I got the same kind on my rims with the foam part and I have no probs so far. I have no Idea about the hopping. It could be b/c of not having the weights.

If you're going to buy 10.5" Bullitts, don't buy them from anyone but Wheel Replicas.

Old racer’s trick… duck tape those weights on and overlap them by about a half inch all around. You’ll be good to go.
