so i'm cruising along minding my own business and i pass this cop going the opposite direction and then all of a sudden he does a U-turn and comes after me. So i pull over and i asked him what i did and he says my smoked taillights are not legal and my window tint is too dark. He measured my tint and it was 35.6% and he said legal is 53%. The tint has been on the car for over 10 years and now hes stopping me. I understand the taillights but this is bull sh**! I have 10 days to get everything removed or i'll be getting a fine. sorry for the rant guys I'm just soo pi**ed.

53? I think he has it backwards... it's 35% in most places with window tint laws.

Is it me or is this site slow tonight?? Anway, I just heard this funny story yesterday and it has to do with tinted window so I thought I would share it. It happened in a town near my house. A guy got pulled over and got a ticket for tint. So before the court date he went around and took a bunch of pics of the police cars that have tinted windows. Out of 20 cars, probably half are tinted and probably 5%. Apparently he went before the judge and showed the pics and said something like just because they are cops doesn't mean that they are above and beyond the law. So the judge threw it out of court. That is a real d*ckhead move, but I like it. But now the cops are probably out to get they guy. Lucky for me, I have a not from my eye doctor.

Window tinting laws are stupid anyways. I don't think it has to do with officer safty, I think it has everything to do with profiling who they pull over. You should have done what this guy did:

A driver is pulled over by a police man.
Man: Is there a problem Officer?
Officer: Sir, you were speeding.
Man: Oh I see.
Officer: Can I see your licence please?
Man: I'd give it to you but I don't have one.
Officer: Don't have one?
Man: Lost it four times for drink driving.
Officer: I see, can I see your vehicle registration papers please?
Man: I can't do that.
Officer: Why not?
Man: I stole this car.
Officer: Stole it?
Man: Yes, and I killed and raped the owner.
Officer: You what?
Man: She's in the trunk if you want to see.

The Officer looks at the man and slowly backs away to his car and calls for back up. Within minutes five police cars circle the car. A senior officer slowly approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun.

Officer #2: Sir, could you step out of your vehicle please! The man steps out of his vehicle.
Man: Is there a problem sir?
Officer #2: One of my officers told me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner.
Man: Murdered the owner?
Officer #2: Yes, could you please open the trunk of your car please.

The man opens the trunk, revealing nothing but an empty trunk.

Officer #2: Is this your car sir?
Man: Yes, here are the registration papers.

The officer is quite stunned.

Officer #2: One of my officers claims that you do not have a driving licence.

The man digs in his pocket revealing a wallet and hands it to the officer. The officer opens the wallet and examines the licence. He looks quite puzzled.

Officer #2: Thank you sir, one of my officers told me you didn't have a licence, stole this car, raped and murdered the owner.
Man: Bet you the lying bastard told you I was speeding, too.

I was curious so I looked it up. In Florida the front side windows can't be more than 25%, and the rear window or any windows behind the driver can't be more than 35%. And as for the law enforcement vehicles, certain ones are exempt according to statute. I'm sure this varies some from state to state

Where I am if you can hold your license up to your window and read it from the outside your good to go. My truck was 5% all the way around and it was dark as hell I drove that for a year and even got pulled over and the cops just said if you go to the city they might bug you but we don't really care. If I went to a city with the truck I would just roll both windows down.

Great joke!! It must be a stang thing, cause I was pulled over two night ago in the rain, the cop told me I was speeding (62 in a 45). He stated that he clocked me travelling in the opposite direction, turned around & followed me for 1/4 mile, then pulled me over & gave me a warning.

In Georgia, trucks are exempt from tinting laws and seatbelt laws. It does vary from state to state. They have a law for everything.

Take it to Feltch's and have them measure the tint. When I had all my cars done, they only tint to PA law specs, meaning they won't tint any darker than the limit. Also, tinting on the quarter glass on any car is actually illegal. Likely, he saw your tails then when he pulled you over, decided to nail you on the tint. Check into it, and if the fine isn't to bad I'd just pay it. Removing tint sucks.

The problem with this is the next time the cop sees you he is going to pull you over again and give you another ticket.
