I have a stock blue 04 GT and I think it's the best car I ever owned. But last week I got smoked. At least it was a Mustang. I'm thinking about spending alittle money, maybe 500.00 or so. What is the best bang for my money?

auto 4.30 stick 4.10, if you have $500 to spend this would be the starting point an offroad x or h-pipe would be 2nd, a K&N air filter would be 3rd( don't not waste your money on a cold air ). These are good starting points to enhance your stang.

Buy an O/R X and some MIL elims. Then a Trick flow plenum. That would help quite a BIT.

Another vote for 4.10's, then let the avalanche unfold into the darkness we call modding. Or a n2o kit.

If you are changing mid-pipes, you will need o2 extension harnesses, too. (Just for the 2004 model year)

Did you get the car recently? If so, you should get some practice before you start modding it.

Nitrous ?? For $500 or a little more you can get an adjustable kit and have extra power whenever you want it. Start with a 75 shot to get used to it, the upgrade your plugs and get a tune and go bigger.

A Nitrous kit is a good idea, but it'll be in the neighborhood of $1000 if you get all the necessary safety features, even more if you want a tune, or if you get a kit like a NOSzle kit.

really, if you just got this car I would do what "40th GT" said. Get use to the car first, then go mod crazy later.

But if you want mods......do your gears first.

If its an auto, start with 410-4:30's, and a 3K stall cnvtr, and I bet u will be very happy...Then xpipe/cat back and tbody/plenum...should be in the mid to low 13's easy.

What kind of mustang did you lose to, though?

I personally have skipped the gear thing. I guess for me, I wasn't all that impressed. In fact it kind of turned me off to the idea. Which is why I still have the stock gearing. Suspension will carry you a long way, I think a lot longer than gears will.

Thank's for all the imput. I got it in sep. of 04 and I should of just sucked it up and got the cobra. Even my wife wish that I did now that she loves my buddies 04 Mack1. If I put gears in do I need to tune or get a programmer? It might be a stupid question but this is my first muscle car and I don't want to screw it up.
