Hey guys been a while since Iv been on here hope everyone is good. Iv finally found some money with which to do some big stuff to the ole stang. You can see in the sig what iv done already. I think its now time for the bigger stuff I know i want to do the intake (upper and lower) and the TB. Im thinking BBK 70mm and either GT-40 or Trick Flow Track heat intake(any suggestions?). Would this be a good idea with what i have? Also will this work with the stock hood or will it be too tall? Need to know whether i will have to replace it or not before i start puting things in only to have the hood not close. Finally is it worth it to add this stuff without changing the heads right now? I will probobly do heads and cam in the near future but not quite yet. Probobly looking at Nitrous before then. Slam me with all of your knowledge.

An intake will help the car breath a lot better since looking at your sig she can exhale quit well. The 70mm may be a bit much right now the 65mm would be better. While you are at it might as well get a mass air. You said in the near future you plan on doing heads and a cam. If its in the immediate future why not wait and do it all at once?

Thanks for the advice. I was gonna go ahead and do those things in preparation for the heads, thats why i thought about the 70mm TB. I guess i should probobly just go for them though. Say I got the GT-40 X aluminum heads, Trick flow track heat intake, 70 mm TB and 1.6 RR's. Would this be a nice combo? Also would i need new valve covers? Iv heard oc clearance problems with the stock ones and i wouldnt mind some nice chrome plated ones either . What else would I need? I know about bolt ones but im a little in the dark as so what all i would need to do this kind of change. Thanks for the help.

I would do the "in thing".....Edelbrock Performer and Fox body throttle body conversion. I think you'd be ok using a 70mm until you get heads and cam, but even then I'm not sure a 70 is necessary.

actually, a 70mm would be good. i remember seeing a test on it saying on the same car with the same mods, there was a 4-5 hp difference between the 70mm and 65mm. you really arent hurting anything if you get a 70mm. Id say the Trickflow Track Heat is toooooo much for your car. itll suffer like a dog in the low rpms. get a street heat intake or the Edelbrock performer. dont waste your money on a gt40 intake.

EDIT: as far as heads go, get some AFRs. the biggest bang for your buck. Think of it as this... you dont want to change in the future, get the best the first time around. if you are doing an HCI swap, look into a chip so your car wont be running like dump.

Your money would not be wasted on a GT40 and the Street Heat, Typhoon or Performer are good choices too. Buy whatever one you find cheapest. They are all too much intake for your stock heads, but you'll grow into them.

Alright i really like the AFR's they are just so expensive, i was trying to find a way to save some money. Are the GT-40 X's no good either? If not i guess i will just have to spend the extra and get the good stuff. Would all this stuff work well with a S/C? Right now its wishful thinking but eventually I plan on having one and i dont want to have to replace everything again in able to support it. So how about this new setup: BBK 70 mm TB, AFR 165's, Trick Flow Street Heat, and 1.6 RR's. That sound about right? Any valve clearance problems? Thanks for all of the help.

That set up sounds good AFR's have been the best bang for the buck. But Eddelbrock came out with their new redisgned heads(performers) that from what I have read on here are supposed to flow just as good as the AFR's do and they are cheaper(food for thought). The valve cover I have no expierince with this but most people but fox covers and grind alittle to make them fit between the alternator and the valve cover. Then grab there trusty BFH(Big *****ing Hammer ) and show the baffles who's boss and the 1.6 RR clear just fine.

Thanks guys, ill definitely look into the edelbrock heads especially if they are cheaper. Finally what about nitrous? I would like to put some on the car probobly in a few months once all of these upcoming mods have settled in nicely. How much of a shot can the set up i currently have handle? I know to go high i would need forged pistons, but just how much can the stock ones hold before they buckle? Iv heard 100 and Iv heard 150. Finally is there anything else I need to buy before I start tackling the install on all of this. Any gaskets, bolts, covers, anything that doesnt come with the things i will be buying? Thanks for all of your help.

I wouldent do nitrous unless you have a place were you can get it tunned right ( dyno ) b/c nitrous is very tricky to tune and very easy to blow a head gasket or even wrose. Also do you live close to a place that can refill your bottle? If I were you I would forget about the Nitrous if your trying to save your money for all this stuff you have been talking about. It would be better to put the money towards a S/C

Hmmmmm well i know nitrous is tricky. I have a post in the south east region forum right now asking if anyone knows of any good performance garages (to get the heads and later the nitrous installed) as well as any good dyno tune places where i could get it tuned and have a chip burnt. I live in Atlanta so Im sure the places exist around here somewhere I just have to find them. If i cant find any then I will reevaluate the nitrous idea but right now im pretty confident i can. Does anyone know of any places that do either of these things? Id be willing to drive pretty far if i knew it was worth it. Thanks for the help.
