Hello all. I finally got my Tweecer installed. I read the EEC with no problems. For my first tune I am only changing the basic stuff and then will try data logging. Here are my questions.

1. Should I datalog with the stock tune that I read from the EEC before making the basic adjustments or can I make the basic tuning adjustments and then datalog?

2. Do I need to adjust timing, fuel etc back to stock settings before Tweecing?

I will probably have more questions based on the answers I get. thanks

I would suggest datalogging your stock tune to see where you need to start making changes.

If its anything like my pms, you set the base timing back to stock and all the timing advance is through the pms + what the computer adds.

Do you have a wideband?

I just got back in from doing a few datalog pulls on the street

I agree with Mike about just seeing how things work with your stock tune.

First thing is to make sure you can do a basic tweec and build a payload for datalogging in Cal Edit. Then see if those items show up in a test dlog.

As you talked about, you need to put dizzy and fuel pressure back to stock values and don't change them any more as changing them will make what you see in your dlogs be not accurate. That is even more important for the fuel pressure.

Here is a thing or two you might want to look at when your able to dlog.

Have your dlog running and drive at a steady cruise in 2nd or 3rd at say about 2k rpm with the throttle just barely open to hold the steady cruise. Now go to the floor and put a couple more thousand rpm on the log and kill the log. You should be able to see the tip in retard of the value of 5 for about 2 to 4 data events.

You might want to do a wot blast from say 1500 rpm to maybe 5K or so to see what your spark curve looks like.

Anyway, have fun and .......................
Welcome to the world of self tuning.

I agree with both RC & Grady, you should do a baseline datalog, to see where changes should be made. I'm probably getting a Tweecer myself in the next couple of months when I finally get around to finishing up my engine. I had considered getting the Speed Brain a few years back, but didn't have the money for it, and it's gone now anyway. Oh, and you can still say later Grady, we won't pick on you... Just realized you stopped saying it. Thought something was different

The only thing I did was set the fan setting to what others had found to be a good setting for the 180 T-stat into the J4J1 tune along with killing the speed limiters, and setting the MAF to as close to 0 and as close to 5volts as the tweecer would correct and datalogged that. Then I entered my GT MAF transfer into the J4J1 transfer, for some reason it worked for me and datalogged again.

The stock Fuel Press. is 39psi BTW, and stock timing is 10 just to put it out there (assume nothing)

OK I will try datalogging the stock tune. But to make sure I understand correctly. I should not - at this point - change the idle speed and fans before datalogging. Or can I change the idle and fan setting and be ok with datalogging. Should I take it for a drive to datalog? Do I datalog under normal driving conditions. Again thanks for the input.

Also is the MAF PROM_Cobra_24 or the PROM_24 the proper MAF transfer for my car.

I changed the fan settings before I datalogged (and used that first datalog to also see if they were coming on at the correct temp), I had an overheating issue and from the swap to a 180 t-stat pointed to the fans being out of wack with the eec's timing to turn them on. I knew this was an issue before I even started my car so thats why I changed that before I did my first datalog.
