Is it grease or could it be brake fluid?

definititly sounds like axle seal.remove diff cover, remove axle c-clip for the side that leaks, pull off the brake caliper, remove rotor, slide axle out.seal is located within axel tube near the end of the tube.when installing seal be careful to not damage it by bending it etc.use something the same diameter when putting a new one back in.good luck!fairly easy job.

I'm having a similiar issue on my driver's side rear wheel. I just wiped it clean for the first time, but I may take it in for warranty work if it shows up again.

Right, but he also has to remove the pinion lock bolt and pinion shaft from the diff.

The ends of the axle shafts are very sharp along the splined end- if you are not careful, you will tear the rubber seal and be doing the job all over again. (Don't ask me how I know this !)

One more thing, I believe the caliper bolts are "torque to yield" and cannot be re-used. Does anyone know anything about this.
