So I was driving my 95 v6 the yesterday when it started running rough, so I took it home. A few hours later tried to start it and it started spewing white smoke from the exhaust. So I remember that there was a recall on head gaskets from 94-95. So I called my local ford dealership this morning and he told me the recall is only for 7 years or 100,000 miles. Well the car only has 80k on it but is 9 years old so, its going to cost me $1000 to get a new one put in just because its a year and a half over the recall. If I got a hold of Ford, do you think they would pay for part of it? Or am I just SOL? I have owned fords all my life and wouldnt want this to screw it up. Anyone had this happen to them?
Thanks
-Mike

Its your problem to deal with now or like 97v6silver said...your SOL. I would do the gaskets my self if I was you, unless you don't have the time or skills to do it your self. Now if you don't I would call around and get a few quotes for someone else to do it.

Good Luck.

head gaskets arent very hard to do actually, just very time consuming, especially in putting the FI back together and such. your best bet is if you have any friends that are very savvy with stuff like that, and ask them to help you. Makes me glad i have family that have done things like that many times.

I did mine in march and within putting 1000kms on motor my oil pressure started to dropping off, which is a pain in the butt! Our V6's can be a real costly to maintain. THis car didn't over heat, just started to run a little hotter then normal so I checked the rad fluid and sure enough it was down. Your SOL pal you'll have to eat the cost, but your not alone! As for my bottom end, running thicker oil helps as long as I don't stand on the gas and rev the bags out it or drive it on long trips, you can hardley notice the rattle BTW Why did I ever buy a V6!
