2 Days... as you are aware, I do not have a lift... And I've always had to remove the stock H Pipe in order to do it... It just takes a while without a lift....

Biggest issue is getting the car up high enough to safely unbolt the transmission, disconnect the driveshaft, the h pipe, and be able to roll the transmission backwards in order to work on Clutch/Pressure Plate.. etc... Then the fun begins... actually aligning the transmission evenly to bolt it back to the motor...

I have another possible idea. I would never have thought of this but it happened on my old car. Please excuse me if I get a few terms wrong. I don't work on transmissions but am reiterating what I was told and showed on the parts of my transmission.

Between each set of gears you have a collar. This is then connected to a fork, which connects to a shaft and then back to the shifter itself. On my old car the fork wore down, on one side, inside of the collar that held it. (I know it's real weird) The end result was that one gear got pushed in all the way (On the side that was not worn down) and the other side didn't move the gear all the way in so it would grind. It would still go in without grinding, but once the clutch was released it would grind instantly since it wasn't slid all the way into gear.

Your problem may be far simpler...but if you go through troubleshooting and continue having problems, if you ever end up pulling the tranny apart it would be something to look at.
