So Im to blame for this one. Yeah I'll own up to it.
I put too much fluid in my rear end. I got a new T/A diff cover and filled it way too much. I drove it on the streets, highway, and 1320 and during the process I really did some damage.
The rear end is making some considerable noise and my mechanic told me that he has to replace all the rear bearings. Could I have blown the stock diffferential at the same time. The main reason I ask is because if this is possible I might as well replace it while its torn apart. Lesson learned: dont fill the diff up to the fill hole in a T/A diff cover, get on the other side (where the drive shaft connects to the axle) use a square ended socket wrench (like a 1/4in end of a socket wrench extension piece) and fill until it spills out.
Repeat: DO NOT FILL UP THE THE FILL HOLE IN YOUR NEW T/A FILL HOLE!
What should I do? What do you guys suggest? I've given up on my mechanical talents and I've decided to pay someone who know what they're doing to get things done. I don't have lots of money to throw at the Stang at the moment as I'm saving up for a Kart so please make your suggestions budget minded.
